$23. 50 an hour, the smallest since the 1990's & 20% less than recommended. For the second year in a row...
Its to be hoped that this is them digging their own political grave ever deeper, making them a one term govt.

The National Party has never been for the workers . They put businesses before Joe average .
And they get away with it , every time . And get voted in , buy average Kiwis .
Im not anti Nats , but its just the way they do things .
Min wage increase will never keep up with the cost of everything going up in price .

Yes they do continue to be voted in; this time it seems partly due to some donations to their party, in particular from big tobacco, since they do seem to be behaving very favourably towards them, & possibly the mining industry too.

National et al seem to have reneged on their promises of buying off Kiwis, with tax cuts that have amounted to SFA for most people. National's lobbyists seem to have got their dollar's worth though considering the amount of controversial policies that have been pushed through under urgency, many of which contain significant backhanders for corporate bodies (e.g. Fossil fuel, mining, tobacco, road transport, private health, etc.).
Politicians are quite good at that - reneging on promises. It could perhaps be seen as their one & only skill, the one thing we can actually count on them doing....
