It's not the least charm of a theory that it is refutable. The hundred-times-refuted theory of "free will" owes its persistence to this charm alone; some one is always appearing who feels himself strong enough to refute it - Friedrich Nietzsche

I couldn't help thinking about the lesson the world was ignoring over the Spanish blackout. How fast and how easily we can be brought to our knees by a simple power cut. No doubt those with agendas have not missed the point...

As for Trump, he isn't listening. He cannot hear criticism.

The Canadian journalist who first called Donald Trump a 'short-fingered vulgarian'

This was first said in 1988

He's not wrong. And yet, there are still Americans who think Trump's wonderful. I wonder what they'll think of him when they're due for their next election. Rolleyes

It must have been dire for those trapped on trains; the doors wouldn't open so they were stuck & would have had no way of knowing what was happening.

The crunch is coming soon, apparently the goods imported from China are well down and soon shortages will start to appear much worse than happened in America in Covid time.

As to the blackouts, apparently there's a theory that it's due to too little real inertia in the generating system due to reducing the amount of turbines and increasing modern green generation causing much faster reactions to system changes causing large oscillations and overshoots in voltages causing compensatory switch offs in the system which then cause drops in voltage which means there are power shortages which lead to blackouts.

This is speculative.

albeit very specific speculation...

Most? Well, not internationally, if her growing collection of international awards are anything to go by. And those aren't handed out in cereal packets.

But, you are right, some opinions are absolutely set in stone, like mine around that American criminal despot and his puppeteers, lol...

i know a touch of narcissism is pretty much a prerequisite for political aspirations, but of all the recent politicians in New Zealand I think I would consider Jacinda Ardern one of the least afflicted...

Some folks still seem obsessed with 'wasted' money during the covid years while conveniently ignoring the lives saved by her policies. She didn't get everything right but under the circumstances she wasn't going to keep everyone happy - stuck between a rock and a hard place so to speak...

Thanks to the sheer nastiness of some sections of humanity, I suspect it may be several decades before her actual worth is recognised.

Empathy & impulsiveness in a leader was after all, a relatively new experience for most.

are there stats to back this up?  or is it just a made up, fit the narrative kind of fact?

And...of course, you have actual proof of this....??

And since you appear so interested you might want to have a look at the present govt & what they've done to help that situation...hint not a damned thing - they have though, managed to make it worse. Dodgy

But they've reduced the number in emergency accomodation! They see that as a win...

Here in Dunedin, we have a Hooverville growing at the back of the Oval, on the motorway embankment.
