You can never have enough...
(19-06-2025, 07:38 AM)kiwimade64 Wrote: morning ladies Smile  We have a frost, but I can't see it clearing with that cloud cover.

Amazing how our pets can take the same drugs as us.  At least you know your options now, OHH, and Tatty Cat has pain relief.  We all know how you feel when in pain, it must be the same for animals as well. The Furry One has been on epilepsy meds for eight years now so we know about long term meds and the costs.

I was in Hamilton again yesterday and this time managed to find a car park.  We couldn't have an earlier appointment for MrK as there is only the one clinic being held next month.  We will just have to bide our time and cross our fingers nothing happens to him before then.  They did say he could present to ED BUT there were a lot of people with the flu and Covid.  So that's a hard no, from us.

Today I'm changing the washer in a tap.  MrK announced it was leaking, and he would show me how to fix it.  Pretty sure I know how to do that but OK, show me anyway.  The trick will be to find the replacement washers and may mean a trip to Mitre 10 after I have a hissy fit lol.

The lawnmower guy is coming today; the lawn has been growing like its spring. It's pretty wet underfoot and the other day there was squelching as I walked on it.  Thank goodness for red bands Tongue

I might give hanging the washing outside a whirl today in spite of the cloud cover.  If it dries or even half dries, that's a bonus.

Haha thats the diplomacy of a wife.. Yep we know how to do things, but let them show us again so they feel good..

Lucky to have had a Handy man stepfather and Husband so I learnt alot.   Had the latter for 36 years yesterday.

Without expensive imaging, all they can tell me is she has some bone spurs that might indicate injury to her lower spine and tail bones  and might be impinging on her nerves in the area. Very like sciatic nerve pain according to the senior vet who reviewed the xrays. Long term anti inflammatories, to be reviewed, but no surgical intervention necessary. With the morphine on board she is walking normally, and has demolished two sachets of her preferred wet food, and is head bumping all her favourite things, like my canister of pens and the legs of furniture. And me.

Apparently the daily med is so tasty - and in liquid form, that cats have been known to beg for more. Uh huh. We'll see...

That'll be $538 thank you very much. Uh huh, here's $250, pay day is in two more weeks, lol. Lovely when the vets know I'm good for it!!

She's having a wonderful time, & feeling better so all good. Not quite so much for the human's bank balance - but it could have been worse.

The sun has deigned to appear now & then, & Madame le Dog's flea treatment at vet's has been replaced by a different one, not the drops to put on back of neck but a pill to swallow. I did ask about taste & was assured that all dogs love it. We'll see.

The very welcome bonus was that its a good bit cheaper than the one we'd been using so fingers crossed she likes it. She better had if she knows what's good for her... Rolleyes

Well, first meds given this morning. And no, she is not keen. But she is eating and pooping and beginning to forgive me for yesterdays torture session...

Glad you managed to get the pill into her Hunnie.

I dont know why Madam thought she couldn't get out of the bedroom, maybe she really likes my blanket.

Mind you when I left for town I discovered the front door wasn't shut properly. Im sure I shut it when I took the rubbish out, but I didn't have the light on. Thankfully I put the chain on. And it was shut enough she couldn't have got out.

Maybe Karma was working and made her stay in the bedroom for her own safety.

Well the silly Dr forgot to do the form for the x-ray, so that will happen another time... Got the new lappy and phone.. Just a tip, tell them you saw it online cos they didn't have the cheap ones on display. So always ask.. Was the same with both for me today.

Got my baskets for the Kitchen, and cos of a machine I had to walk past the rugs.. And they were included in the clearance specials. I think it was half price. Ill find out when the sale is over I guess.. Its slightly smaller than the temu one but much heavier. All Black. Ill put the temu one in the kitchen Its very thin, and wont last long. Lesson learnt.

Have my new glasses.. Wow things are big lol.. I should be able to paint without a magnifying glass now. Driving was even better lol.. The other test was for periphial vision. My right eye being better than the left. Staring at an amber light for 2 minutes clicking each time you see a light flash elsewhere, wearing an eye patch on the other eye is harder than you think.. I had to stop on the second eye, things were just going black.. they were flat out, people coming and going all the time.

The clouds have come in, dont think Ill be seeing any stars tonight.

Liquid meds popeye, you get a syringe and suck up enough dosage per patient weight, and squirt it into their mouth. Might be easier tomorrow once she decides I am forgiven.

Going on the price per though, it would be cheaper to go the homeopathis route, so as soon as the bank account allows I shall get some and trial it.

I got a basket for the scoot before all this cat astrophe came along, and the seller delivered it and fitted it for me today. It is a big one, sits at the back of the seat and fits into the tube that runs into the frame. I will need to get another security bolt hole drilled I think to make it even more stable, but the predrilled one will do in the meantime. I will add a tiedown to wrap around the basket and the seat just for my own peace of mind. But it will be very useful for shopping bags, I can just pop them in there instead of rearranging everything so I can carry them on the foot pad, or in the backpack. Be great for tall plants too, or bags of discards for the op shop run. I am getting more and more sorted and dropped off, which is a good thing. Less to worry about when they tell me they are moving me to refurbish this flat. Which won't be for ages, but it'll take me ages to do a proper job, lol. Pack rat me...

Temu is a trap for new players popeye, so tempting. They know what they are doing for sure. And when you stop buying, then the hard sell really starts, if my neighbours experiences are anything to go by. I think I'd trust KMart more, even if the range isn't quite as massive!

It's Bravecto the Furry One hates, Mica lol. The vet was very surprised to hear that lol.

Oh nooooo!

They're called Simparica, three doses (3 months) for about $40. Can't remember the name of the previous ones but they were the drop of stuff on her neck (so not much problem, just a matter of sneaking up when she was eating something )  & cost around $60 for three treatments.

I'll try just as it is & if she hates them then try to conceal it in something - fun times ahead!

Its the first thing I wasn't happy with from Temu. And cos I still use the walker if achy its that that is making it roll up.

Dianne got one a while ago and it was good... Maybe different makers etc.

If I had to give madam pills I would chose cheese too. She loves it.

Ive never seen a flea on her. Shes only been out once and that was according to MrP. I dont think it was her at all. There was another in the hood that was very similar.

Wow Im amazed at how much I can see...

Will disturb my girl now so I can shut the curtains , cos its dark enough for lights already. Ill feed madam then have a look at my spot the difference games.

I have enough to keep me busy for a while with the baskets, crates move and crating stuff from boxes. Ill squish some diamond painting in tho. Might even try tonight depending on how long my games take lol..

I saw a cool little trailer someone had my for their Skoot Hunnie. probably cost a fortune.

morning ladies Smile Happy Matariki Heart Fingers crossed the rain has stopped.

Cheese! Yessss! This is one of two ways we get the Furry One's meds into him. The second is burying it deep into his pet mince. He has to have the tablets twice a day, so we have learnt a few tricks along the way. But even breaking down Bravecto into his food, he refused it. Must be the smell.

I have never bought anything from Temu or Shein as I'm a tad suspicious of them both. We watched a documentary on Al Jazeera about the working conditions of the workers. I would rather not support that kind of business model if at all possible.

Yesterday I weeded the vegie garden and picked a huge armful of spinach. It has been washed, sliced, bagged and frozen for quiche and flans. This perpetual spinach is great but the last of the row was about to bolt. And another beautiful leek picked for dinner as well. More sand from the pile was also shoveled into the bin. The lawn mowing guy just squeaked in with the mowing. It rained as he shut the gate to leave.

Housework for me today, the floor needs washing - bad me lol, walking inside with gumboots on.

I did the kitchen floor yesterday. I felt so pure afterwards. I am not a good housewife. But, the Tatt arrived on the bed at 2am for a bit of loving before departing for her safe place underneath it, so I think maybe she is coming right again. Fingers all crossed. I however didn't get back to sleep easily, but occupied my monkey mind thinking about how useful that scoot basket is going to be. I have an excess of white cube bookcases that I stacked as storage walls, the basket can take a couple at a time down to the op shops, and then there's the potential for rescuing the odd young fruit tree that shows up in the managers rejects at the local garden centre, and then I fell asleep again...

Plants are so calming, aren't they?

Morning everyone

Boy it bucketed down last night, standing in the bathroom listening to it lol... Not often I hear rain.

Not as cold today which will make it easier..

I have a long list of stuff I want to do in the next week or so.. started putting the baskets up on the shelf while my rice was heating up. It looks good.

Ill unroll the rug later, will have to be on my bed cos it aint going to unroll on the mountain of stuff dumped on the other bed lol..

Madam doesnt seem to have noticed the different glasses. But they were worth waiting for lol.

Right the sooner I get off here the faster things will be done. Have a fab day all

lol OHH, better than counting sheep! I told MrK about Tatty Cat's bone spurs, and he said, that's part of my hip problem (along with the bone crumbling away) so I know how Tatty Cat feels. He sends Tatty Cat hugs and pats from one sufferer to another. The basket sounds perfect for your needs. Many adventures to be had with them.

Bathroom and loo done, bed stripped and remade with clean sheets. The Furry One evicted from sleeping on top of the blankets as I was making the bed. He's not happy with me lol. But he just loves woolen blankets and will do anything to sleep on them.
