Shopping done & dusted, quite cold still but sunny.
And almost had a meltdown in supermarket; those damned dogbiscuits whish were $24 last week are now down to $18! That'll be a lesson to me,next time the blasted things are 'on special' at $24, I'll damned well wait another week.
And...I really, really should have known. Sod's law has kicked in & one of the on hold books is there at the library. Already - just over 24 hours! I do wish they weren't quite so efficient..

You can make a complaint to the Commerce Commison about the dog biscuits, Lilith. That's the sort of thing they look for.
It's turned bitterly cold out there, no chance the washing will dry outside so have bought it in and thrown in the drier. Have decided to just pay the power bill. Thank goodness for fortnightly payments.

Synchronicity! My - and hers, favourite cat biscuits are the Iams kind. Expensive tastes. Every six weeks or so they drop to $18 for the big pack and if I time it right, she gets those. If not she gets the ones she isn't keen on. But hey, sometimes I eat pasta instead of steak.
Actually, it has been a long tine since I could afford steak - but you know what I mean...
Supermarkets - with the single exception of the one in Jan's family of course, are total rip offs. Except when they have bargains. On Wednesdays in our neck of the woods, when the Super Tuesday rejects get the Reduced labels and end up in my trolley...
And me too - Ding! Email from the library - which I visited this morning, to tell me a reserve is in. The First Gentleman, by Bill Clinton. Should be an interesting read...
I shall pick it up tomorrow. Any excuse to get more books...

No need - they're already in the cactus...
But the thing is,it happened once before & I should have remembered but didn't.

I really should have known not to put three on hold at the same time.
Not to worry though, one of the four I got is a really slim one so hope to finish it swiftly....she said ever so hopefully..

I Must go to the library. Not that I need to I do have books that I haven't read.
Just not 100% sure where they are.. Well the fiction ones anyway.
I could get the ones about the girls who murdered one of their mothers out again and actually read them this time.
Oneday.
They told me I couldn't, so I did.!!

morning ladies Another calm day before the wind and rain kick in.
It's my turn for a blood test today. The new diabetic medication our doctor gave me for my heart needs monitoring. It seems weird to take tablets designed for one thing for another but hey, if it works, who am I to complain.
Not a lot happening, it was too cold to weed yesterday and by the looks of it, I won't be weeding today either. MrK is going to do the annual sharpening of the secateurs and loppers so I'm good to go with the rose pruning. Only 19 roses to prune this season as three are new climbers, three were pruned hard back to move late summer and Claude Monet is still too small.
Better get moving, I have some chicken drums to brown for the slow cooker. The slow cooker gets a good work out in the winter.

Need to sort out fabric for baby quilt that DD wants for colleague. Always something to do in sewing cave.
Enjoy your day keep dry and warm

Morning everyone
The sun is out but I dont think it will stay that way
.
It is odd how some meds work for multiple problems. I know Metformin is one that helps alot of things. Like the one they put me on after my heart attack. its for people who have diabetes and heart stuff. Its what made me lose my weight.. So a bonus for both conditions.
Im going to have a lazy day. Im going to talk to Skinny this morning about changing my phone to an unlimited plan and then use it as for tethering my internet with. I had soo much trouble last night, the air was blue. And if I can spend $40 every four weeks for unlimited I think that's a good deal. And no more than what my phone, internet and sky used to cost.
I phoned Hardly Normal who think its odd that the screen is damaged, I said to her I agreed. But Im taking it back tomorrow. I could work with it the way it is, but shouldn't have to.
Have a fab day all

HN staffers, in my experience are reluctant to stump up with repairs or replacements unless faced with strong customer ibsistence. It is always disappointing to be put in the defensive position by sales staff, so I hope they treat you with respect popeye.
It is one reason I have only ever bought one item from them and then moved to Noel Leeming...

I've heard they can be hard. So Im well prepared to threaten publicity.
I dont give Nole Leeming's money unless I absolutely have to. One of their workers years ago put their own bank account details on a fridge we brought and were paying off. So nothing showed in the bank and Noel Leeming and they came and took the fridge.
Nothing we could do. That worker had already moved on and the stupid privacy act meant we couldn't get our money back. But the way Noel Lemmings treated us was shocking. They knew he was bad cos they had already sacked him.
I dont intend on walking out without a new one, or a discount and I could keep the one that is damaged.

(This post was last modified: Yesterday, 03:32 PM by Lilith7.)
Out earliet to get heavy stuff I couldn't manage with groceries yesterday, then a bit of washing to make tomorrow's lot a bit less. And had another battle with blardy buttercups, wretched things. With 'help' from Madame le Cat.
Then it got cold so came in & did a bit more painting.
Oh - & a little surprise awaited me at the library when I went to pick up the book. Another one I'd put on hold was also there....

A TM score I won a couple of weeks ago arrived this morning, a pair of double 500 thread cotton sateen sheets with cases, so those are in the laundry right now ready to shake out and fold and have ready for this weekends bed strip exercise. New sheets are always a treasure, and these will mix and match with my stash, so I can now safely pass on the older sets. More room in the linen cupboard! Popped in to the vet on the scoot trip today to check side effects for the Tatts meds. She has an upset tummy, so we are dropping to half the amount to see if that helps. Should make that teeny bottle last longer too.
Tomorrow - housework. Yup. The vac is already out of the cupboard poised and ready so I cannot procrastinate again...

Morning everyone
Not to bad here yet.
Busy day today, bloods, lappy, x-rays and a wee bit of Missy shopping.
She's eating about twice what she used to. Feels heavier too which is good. She was always far to skinny.
Had a total blah day yesterday.. Put a temu order in for my friend so I put the latest Missy picture in for myself. I didnt have to spend the minimum for free delivery. so bonus for me.
Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies The heavy rain and wind is coming, I'll double check everything is tied down or put away today.
In the wee hours MrK got up to go to the loo and when getting back into bed, had a fall. He said his leg collapsed from under him (I suspect his butt wasn't close enough to the bed), but it has made him very nervous about walking. He's OK and managed to pull himself up with me grabbing both of his hands across the bed as an anchor. This gives us more ammunition for his orthopedic appointment. Not that we need much ammunition, a blind person could see he needs a new hip. Was a scary few minutes and I debated whether to call the ambulance. I'll have a chat with him this morning about it and suggest maybe he should have an alarm of some sort. I'll guilt him with the 'more for peace of mind for when I'm out and about' line.
I saw yesterday on our community FB page the call for yoghurt containers and their lids lol. Had a wee chuckle and thought, I wonder where that idea came from lol.
Today I'll drain the worm farm now I have a plastic jug to use. It's long overdue and needs to be done before it rains again. We use old milk bottles for the worm wee as they are easier to pour.
Better check on MrK.

Good morning.
It's a bit wild outside and raining. That figures seeing I have to venture out for the school walk before long! The umbrella will be a no-go!
Interesting how Missy is doing better in your new home Popeye. She is obviously feeling secure and happy
Yesterday the cold kept me indoors ... baking (the oven) helped to provide some warmth but today the rain will keep me in. Lucky to have books and knitting. There's always housework!
Those sheets do sound a bargain OHH ... a recent look in the Farmers Sale had me leaving them there. The quality (as in so many products) has gone down since the sheets of years ago ... when the sheets did last years!
Had better get my raincoat on.
Enjoy the day all.

Well, they are certainly cotton, and though a bit softer - is that the 'sateen' thing?- than my Wallace Cotton ones I think they'll be fine. And at $21 instead of $150 that'll do me. Though the courier added $15, lol. It is interesting isn't it how the big sellers, like KMart can get a full length mirror to me from Whangarei for $6, but a couple of sheets from Wellington cost so much more. The power of negotiation.
Still, I'm not complaining, I enjoy the bargain hunting process, and the couriers know me so well these days I get hugs from them and toots when we cross paths when I'm out and about. Which means if a parcel goes astray I know the usual guys are on holiday, lol...

Hope ll goes well with Mr K, KM, the situation can't be much fun.
There have been 131,000 submissions against the devious David Seymour's Regulatory standards bill! Excellent, well done Kiwis. That, & the news that a Kiwi movie can now go ahead thanks to last minure donations brightened up my day considerably this morning.
The book situation is also slightly better - one book was so good that I polished it off swiftly, (& it was a short one) another was so dire that I discarded it even before the 50th page. And then...discovered I've already read The Round House, Louise Erdrich, but it was a while back & anyway she's a favourite writer so have to read it all now. And luckily, it rained last night so can't do anything in the garden... I may be forced to read all day.

Afternoon everyone.
Kiwimade do ask your dr for a St Johns Alarm, Winz cover it. But you need a letter from the dr and it will go on his disability. And while your at it get one for you too.. Yeah it sounded nuts to me too at the time we got MrP's...
I said nah MrP is always home so he could call the ambulance if I needed it. Less than 2 weeks later he was in hospital and I went for a skate in the garage cos the washing machine flooded and I skidded on the concrete. Fell backwards, bashed my head on the floor... I have a hard noggin lol..
The do have a few choices for the alarms I think there is Bupa.. But I just went straight to St JOhns.
PATS ONESELF ON THE BACK... !!!!! They are sending me a new lappy. They didn't have one in stock. So it will come from the distribution center, maybe Monday or Tuesday... Cos I said I dont want to have to make a 3rd trip..
I will admit if it had been the sales lady I had when I got it, things may have been different, but this was a polite young Asian boy...
Had my x-rays, they were free and there wasn't anyone there their. So in and out quickly.
The bonus to losing weight is that I even fitted into one of their non opening gowns. Shouldn't take too long for the results.
My only additional purchase was something I needed. A small whiteboard. Ill write a To DO list on it and anything I need in the shopping.. Will save paper and mean I can put it out of my head at the same time lol
Hunnie I totally agree re the sheets. They used to last soo long. And boy they have gotten expensive even in the warehouse for anything half sort of decent.. I got some flannelette ones a while back from the oppy they were like new and it was fill a bag for $5.
Its getting windy and rain wont be far away but Ill stay inside, I shouldn't have to go anywhere for a while.
They told me I couldn't, so I did.!!
