Not nearly as many as could have been provided by the tax breaks given to landlords
This world would be a perfect place if it wasn't for the people.

Sexist piglet.

Men have hips too. Young people get hip replacements as well. I got my first one 21 years ago. I wasn't old then.

The implant is still working quite well too, despite being both withdrawn and banned, worldwide.

Good point. My first knee placement (a semi-compartment replacement) was when I was 50 and is still working (just), funded by ACC. Latest full knee replacement was in March last year (16 years on). My knees tend to be reaching their use-by date thanks to my youth being largely spent striding up, down and around Egmont (as it was known in those days).

Oh I doubt kiwis will ever go off rugby, or Americas Cup sailing in the other season, no matter how rich the stakes become. Both have become part of our national psyche, you can see that when 'we' lose...

You are right though, governments waste a hell of a lot of money. Like tearing down social housing instead of refurbing it, or selling big chunks of state owned - aka people owned - land to developers. Despite telling the great unwashed that buying a first home is such a great investment for life, they seem way too eager to divest the country of its most solid assets in exchange for a few shekels of short term profits. All while personally gathering and hoarding rental properties without so much as a blush.

Politicians are weird people. And the older they get the more weird they get.

the rugby racing and beer era is over

Governments wasting money like giving millions to gangs

a lot of social housing was in the wrong place, nothing wrong with disposing of it and using the funds to provide housing where its needed

what needs to be done is audit the housing stock and tenants, shift the old granny out thats been in a 3 or 4 bedroom state house for 30 years into a more suitable home making the big house available for a family just because shes been there forever doesn’t make it hers

I think every govt makes massive mistakes - probably due to being human.

Although I would like to see the money doled out to sports of all kinds on a  regular basis pulled back & for a couple of years, a similar amount given to the arts... I suspect the results might be interesting.

After they've started a massive programme of building good quality social housing, & adequately funded & improved our health system..

Yeah - I know... Rolleyes
in order to be old & wise, you must first be young & stupid. (I'm still working on that.)

Indeed; you have to feel sorry for Americans, especially the poor sods who are only now seeing him for what he is.
