Photos "sync pending"
#1
I've lost the plot and run out of bad language, so trying here.

I took photos on my phone, I then uploaded them to that hateful Onedrive, and then I downloaded them to my PC so I had copies on that.

Then I moved them from the Downloads folder to the Pictures folder under Desktop. Yesterday.

Tonight I went to add a photo to my desktop and they didn't show in the Pictures folder, but when I access the Pictures folder thru Explorer they show with circling blue arrows and the notation 'sync pending'.

I Googled, without any luck. Apparently they 'take time' to sync with Onedrive, but why do they need to 'sync' if I've downloaded them??? As far as I'm concerned if I've downloaded them from Onedrive then Onedrive can f*** off!

Any ideas people? How can my photos be independent of Onedrive on my PC?

Thanks.

Question: Do you have a MS 365 subscription that gives you 1000gb of Onedrive Cloud storage

open onedrive settings, account tab on left, it should tell you down the bottom

Best to find the actual folders for your user profile rather than using the various shortcuts.

Onedrive stores it files here
C:\users\[your user profile ]\Onedrive

If you have the Onedrive setup correctly on the pc you will find Desktop. Documents and Pictures folders located within the Onedrive folder.

Otherwise those folders will be here
C:\users\[your user profile ]\

Still confused, BUT since my post 40mins ago the blue arrows have changed to green checkmarks.

But when I go to a photo via my desktop/personalization they still don't show.

Ah well....maybe something's happening in the background.

What you have to be careful with is that by default OneDrive syncs the photo and desktop and several other common folders, so while you think you are putting them in one place, you aren't ( kind of). You need to look in the OneDrive settings and select only the folders you want to sync.  First, put the photos somewhere that OneDrive isn't syncing, then untick the places you don't want to sync.

You also have to select either actual linked or full download.  Do a google search for "tell OneDrive what to sync" You'll get a AI response along with several videos on how to set it.

The AI response is WRONG -- you can disable photos, Documents -- Its all under Settings - Manage Backups -- turn off the folder-- Simple.

To follow on from last nights post. Now with Pic's Smile

To manage what's backed up and what's not in OneDrive:

You can add your own folders for anything that's backed up, OR turn off all the defaults.- It's totally up to you.

Open OneDrive from the Icon Tray - Settings ( cog) - Settings - Manage Backups- Turn off or on anything you want or not. See Pics.

Uninstall and forget all the online syncing crap.

Just plug your phone into your computer and manually copy the files across.

Then you know exactly where you put them, and that they are actually there.
