On the contrary - when someone is being so pig-ignorant & utterly vile about such a subject, I think that that's the sort of thing which must be given widespread publicity so everyone can see exactly what sort of disgusting creature he is.

of course they do - why would you think they don't matter? simply because it hasn't been mentioned in this thread? Should we require the first post of every thread acknowledge the plight of maori children?

Should we not also include the plight of the aborigine, and inuits, the homeless, those that lost their lives in car accidents, trolls and other unfortunates who have disappeared down rabbit holes...

Personally I wouldn't call it a tradition, but it's worth exploring further in it's own thread if you want to help find a solution to one of societies many problems...

Except coments like that are more about your racism heisenberg, than reality. My bff is raising her grandchild. She is more pakeha than I am and so were his parents. Meth heads, who neglected their baby so badly that fourteen years later he still lives with PTSD. It isn't a race thing, it is drugs, poor housing, stupid choices, ignorant parenting and the poverty that follows all that stuff around. The reality that Maori are more frequently affected by those conditions is a result of our institutionalised racism - something I never understood as a comfortably raised fifties white woman. Until I had a Maori daughter. Boy was that a lesson in real life.

You've been sucked in by a mass delusion among the safe and comfortable classes. It isn't real, as our census stats reveal. Which, btw, is why this government talks of stopping the census. Easier to live their dream without the hard facts intruding...
