You can never have enough...
Cough, Pat Boone lol.

I liked, A Summer Place, it will forever remind me of sunny afternoons in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe (Southern Rhodesia) then.

Nat (King) Cole had some lovely songs and I liked Glenn Miller, especially Moonlight Serenade.
It's not the least charm of a theory that it is refutable. The hundred-times-refuted theory of "free will" owes its persistence to this charm alone; some one is always appearing who feels himself strong enough to refute it - Friedrich Nietzsche

Nat King Cole was who I was trying to think of earlier.. and His Daughter in the later years.

I painted most of the afternoon and realised at nearly 4-30pm I hadn't brought the washing in. Thankfully it still had the sun on it, Just. Was dry but I put it in the hot water cupboard anyway.

Has been so nice without a hat and gloves today. Fingers a tad itchy cos they were warm lol..

Gassing with Dianne and I said I kind of hope Friday is cold, so I can hide my white ( calamine lotion white) hand otherwise ill have to parade it like Micheal Jackson haha.

We average 15 people at bingo so I cut the whole roll up and got 20 mats.

Crackerjacks and picture frames on special this week so I hope to get a couple for my Missy Pictures on Friday, Ill check and see what time they open cos if I can get them on the way it wont matter if we are later arriving home.

Dianne told me to make sure we enjoy ourselves.. Cos I had said its going to be a weird day for both of us. Ill be happy but with her on my mind , she will probably be a bit scared and worried etc. But neither of us will forget the Day, it being Daffodil day, and the day before my wedding anniversary.

Right . Time to check the shop hours and give my brain some word exercises.. I probably should go up a level cos Im winning all the time, after 14 years of not playing scrabble all the little words and the Lovely J Q X and Z words are coming back to me. My mother couldnt get over the fact that the "Big" letters were my favourite lol.

morning ladies Smile It's lovely and calm this morning, the calm before the storm I suspect.

I haven't played Scrabble for years, might have to find a virtual version of it.

The recycling needs to be done today or tomorrow. I have a very full bag of soft plastics to take to Countdown next time we are in town. Amazing how much plastic is used these days. At least this way they will be turned into fenceposts or something similar. The new paper bags used for putting your fruit and veg in at Pak n Save is thinner and kept ripping. I think I'll go back to using the fruit and veg bags I sewed. At least they won't fall apart on me.

I need to buy some aniseed, apparently, it's lovely on tamarillos. Thought we could give it a whirl seeing as I succumbed and bought a few yesterday.

I've decided to work the hardanger 'my way' as I need more practice using this stitch. I know how to sew it; it's just used slightly differently. A few more days and it should be finished.

Time to make some more bird pudding, the dripping reeks as it melts so windows are open. I put an apple out yesterday lunchtime and it has been finished already.

That happened with a mandarin I had peeled to eat but discovered it had been colonised by some bug or other. The waxeyes didn't mind and demolished it within a few hours. Weather looks like it might be on the turn, pity, but I need meds so I will have to risk it. Fingers crossed it stays dry...

Morning everyone

Not raining here Yet.

This is the place I play scrabble on KM.. https://playscrabble.com/play/ai ... I play against the computer. You can tell its not a human cos they dont think logically, like saving a U or going for the triple word scores lol. But I am filling my notebooks with words I haven't heard of and then everyday I look up the meaning of some of them. Yep I loved English at school but hated Hamlet lol.. mind you it came from where I sat in class and I disliked the teacher.

Have to fill my bins today and put them out later. I took my soft plastics to NW on Sunday, will take the bottle tops in next time I go there. I put all my general rubbish into bread bags and have been putting a bin out every 3 or so weeks. Never full. But now I have decided to bag the cat litter it will be put out fortnightly Im thinking... and now that Im not having to buy the orange bags, its even better.

And Yes I've gone back to my own fruit bags too. Otherwise 4 apples kill those thin paper bags. A tip for townies, Fanny told me with the food scrap bins, which we dont have yet, they suggest using paper bags, to help make the bin stay cleaner. So Im saving the sugar and flour bags... incase we get them. Pukekohe has them. Taranaki has them and their food scrap's comes up to Auckland.. doh..

Didn't get my Holst's books listed yesterday so Ill do that. And May get the picture Di did me framed. Paul is stopping in for their parcel.

Have a fab day all

People can be very strange sometimes, funny peculiar as my grandfather used to say. I bought a little jacket on TM, courier $8 , paid immediately, sent the address off. I got an email back offering me a top that goes under it according to the seller, cheap but has a few marks she tells me... I don't reply to that one, not into marked clothes nor really into being up sold. Then in the middle of the night another email arrives telling me she'll leave the parcel in my letterbox, to which I reply nicely - please don't, the box being on a public walkway parcels get nicked hence my request to couriers to leave by the front door. Another email, when would it be convenient for her to leave at the front door so I tell her anytime is fine, thanks for the offer... And a while later another email, she'll be posting it today.

People are just strange.

OMG I hate people like that Hunnie..

Two that I know are Both Geminis, cant make up their own minds.. David and Dianne's sister lol.

Part of the reason Im going to Thames with Gayle and not David. he would be extremely painful to go with lol.

I am wondering if the seller of a dinner set I asked a question on this morning, is one also. Shes in the North Shore, wanted pick up, so I asked if they ever came south of the bridge. Said yes but Make an Offer..

I've never used the Make an offer thingee, so wont reply until near the end of the sale.

Rubbish all sorted, Book list done.

Paul has picked up the  Winch.

Robynn is having a friend come around to prune the grape vine on Monday, phew, and they will finally replace the rope on the clothes line out the front. Its sort of a cloth one that once you hang washing on, it gets wet then goes moldy. I suggested the Nylon line, I use spring pegs so it doesn't matter what thickness it is. And Much cheaper as it will take just shy of 10 meters.

Tried sorting the frame for the Picture but my brain just wouldn't work. And I dont want to cut anything Just yet. Im tempted to paint the backing board black, trim the picture and stick it to it.  Cos the Poster card I got is too white for the other framing board. Ill leave it for now.

Games done so Ill paint all afternoon.

That rang a (very distant!) bell so looked it up & sure enough, A summer place was the theme for a film of the same name, in 1959 I think it was. I never saw it but remember the music.

The world is a weird place. And humans are crazy... Rolleyes

I went off Gemini people back in the day when one treated a friend of mine badly, & have never been keen on them.

However...I now have one Gemini granddaughter (love her to bits) & two Gemini great grandkids (ditto)...perhaps the universe is teaching me not to generalise.

Ventured over to Northlands earlier & got shower gel, bubble bar & a bath bomb from Lush for a granddaughter's birthday next month. They're hellish expensive, didn't get much change from $60 but their quality is excellent; I do wish the Bodyshop hadn't closed dammit.

Managed another bit of weeding, gradually clearing the big garden & think I'll probably plant pumkins there this time.

OMG Hunnie,

That would drive me nuts, but at least you got the item fast.

I've not knowingly known a Gemini before these too. I often say to Dianne we should get them together, other than the fact that David is Gay.. They would never make a decision ever lol She has Munchausen's and he doesn't like discussing his own health, so they would be perfect for each other LOL.

Im losing my patience with these Blardy chill blains. My hands have been normal warm the last couple of days yet they are itching worse.. Think Ill pop into the drs when Im doing my blood tomorrow, make an appointment if I have to.. but its a pathetic reason to go to the drs. But even the calamine lotion isn't helping that ,much.

I asked another question on a listing, an induction portable element. And it was a pick up but they have given me a price for postage so I may big on it.. Its a $1 reserve.

Painted all afternoon, and nearly finished the Lily Panel, a mauve Hydrangea is next. Then a red rose and the daffodils.

morning ladies Smile Another gorgeous day is here.

That's a weird thing to happen, OHH. If you pay for postage, you expect it to be posted. Personal delivery is something you arrange between you, not one party saying they will do it.

Our magnolias are almost flowering, the flower buds are beginning to split, and you can see the deep pink. The new magnolia, 'Butterflies' is a bit harder to see but they won't be far away either. And the native buttercup is flowering. Spring is almost here. Hopefully the ground is a bit warmer for weeding today.

I have one corner finished on the hardanger and have started another. So far so good Smile and I'm happy to stitch it 'my way'. I'll have to practice this other technique and work out the best way for this left hander to do it. I often have to reverse or work patterns upside down to make it work.

Better put some more bird food out for the birds. This will probably be the last we put out as the days are becoming warmer. And besides, some of those sparrows are realllllllly tubby! The mynahs are bullies, and we can't wait for the cabbage tree to go so they will leave. We heard our resident thrush this morning for the first time this spring. You can pretty much set your clock by it from now on.

Have a good day Smile

Woke up to a clear blue sky and warm air this morning, what happened to that storm? Might just pop down to New World and pick up some grapes and use up my last colletgion of stickers on the utensil rest if that sun stays in place. It would be a good way to postpone the vacking seeing for some reason I am a bit stiff and sore today, must have slept wrong... And I need seed raising mix for my summer vegie seeds.

Hi Popeye,
I have induction, love it, very quick and very easy to control. Had ceramic prior to this, I liked that too. The ease of cleaning, for me, is great. I cook and bake a lot, and I am messy!!, the only thing I found a little annoying is if I have dropped or spilt something while cooking, if the cloth is a bit too wet when wiping up, the whole top shuts down, safety feature apparently, but a bit of a pain if your are doing something that needs constant stirring at a regular heat. Should teach me to be more tidy, but it hasn't.
I think you will like it.

Hi Zoe,
I am  long time lurker as well, occasionally post, but I also love reading about all the antics the regulars get up to.
I am in my 70,s have two dogs, one cat and a parrot, it is like a mad house here some days, but not boring.
I probably lurk more because i am not a gardener, do not sew, I can, but don't, I can knit but again don't, love cooking and baking. The dogs are St John therapy dogs, so that keeps us busy, but that is being discontinued next year.
Have a great day.

Hey you two, please join us if you have the time and the space in your lives. More voices in the dark are always welcome, I know the others will agree.

I just had a lovely little interaction. Still in my pjs, decent though, hair a bird's nest, but contacts in, and I notice a parcel on the doormat through my glass front door. So I am standing there trying to break into the plastic wrap and my favourite Aramex courier comes down the drive, I know its for me so I wait. Huge goodmorning greeting from this lovely man I have got to know over the years and I hold up the Pass the Parcel bag and say sternly, 'he beat you to it'... My lovely friend peers at the parcel in my hand and scoffs ' nah, he's a poser...

And I crack up. I am still chuckling at his comeback, I love the speed of it and the contempt, lol...

With that start it will be a good day.

Oh, and Zoe? A thirteen year old daughter? You have my total sympathy, I remember those days all too well, lol...
Reply
lol Zoe, I remember those teenage years too! Welcome GJW and Zoe Smile Join us, you don't have to craft or garden. The thread has evolved over the years to pretty much anything. That's a shame about the therapy dogs Sad I know we enjoyed seeing the dogs in the hospital and I know it made a lot of patient's day!

We've had a mad dash to the vet with the Furry One as we thought he was having a seizure. His behaviour last evening was 'off' too so this morning we panicked a bit and phoned the vet. Took him in and it seems he has a double ear drum inflammation. No infection thank goodness so a dose of steroids and another check up next week. He must be in pain as he snapped at the vet for the very first time in his 14 and a half years. She knew instantly it was pain but had to muzzle him to check his ears. He was NOT impressed with the muzzle at all and as soon as he was back on the floor he headed for the door. We had a new vet who was lovely and understood completely. The vet nurse who has known him all his life couldn't believe he snapped. But pain makes anyone, human or animal behave differently. And MrK is under strict instructions to stop feeding him tidbits lol. So, we're expecting a lovely bill soon. Just as well we have a TSHTF (The Sh*t Hit The Fan) account we put $$$ into for these things now.

Zoe, you have my sympathy - a 13 year old daughter! At one point I had THREE teenage boys...so naturally I now have grey hair & massive amounts of wrinkles.
But you do get through it. Eventually.
And in the fullness of time with any sort of luck they grow up & you get grandkids, a massive bonus, being a gran is the best. Wink

And of course...the other thing is that eventually, you get to see your kids dealing with their very own teenagers! Rolleyes Big Grin

I can also knit & sew & have done so in the past but don't now, can't be arsed but also harder to see. Have gone off cooking but still do some gardening.
