You can never have enough...
(12-08-2025, 11:25 AM)Oh_hunnihunni Wrote: I was in a class once with a medical engineer, who had some interesting stories about theatres. And the sounds and smells.

I was offered an epidural for my first hip replacement but having had a c section under one I have no desire to ever repeat the awake theatre experience. Besides, these days the drugs are so good...

I had an epidural when I had my tummy done but I dont remember a thing, apart from when they sat me up  when they had finished lol.. IM guessing I had something else to make me sleep at the same time.

Hopefully they will do the same this coming time too.. But I know to query when they give me the warfarin again this time, since they messed it up last time.

I was awake when they took my ganglion out of my wrist, they wouldnt let me watch tho..

All the beeps and machines actually help me sleep which is good.

Curtains sewn and hung up. Broken pair of plyers in the process.. And I was only cutting curtain wire.. Thank goodness I have more lol..

Didnt know I was that strong lol.

I intended to watch that doco last night but watching Moana there were a couple of ads for another doco on directly after Te Ao about Alien Weaponry, a Kiwi metal band who are absolutely brilliant despite being kids. It was really interesting, followed them to a metal gig in Slovenia (I think it was Slovenia) & one or two others including one here with the CHCH Symphony orchestra, which didn't happen due to covid.
I zipped back in ads & managed to catch a bit of the Body thing, with luck I'll get to see it next week, but I wasn't going to miss Alien Weaponry. I hope they have a surgery on it next time, those are really interesting.

Did dreaded shoppingf - it rained on the way there but not much & cleared soon after...of course it damn well did.

Good luck with that pattern Mica, it looks tricky.

I knew our living room was toasty in the winter being north facing, but 42 degrees is a tad over the top lol.  Might have to open some windows.

Alien Weaponry is a great band!  Didn't realise it was on last night, might have to find it on demand.

That twist looks a bit challenging, mica.  Good luck with it Smile

I KNOW!! They're seriously good; the doco showed one or two bits from they were really young, playing guitar & just learning & even then it was plain they're seriously talented. I think there's a maori+ channel which may have it, haven't checked.

morning ladies Smile Well, that's not much of a frost.

Thanks, harm_less, I'll enjoy watching that Smile These lads are incredibly talented.

We now have two new posts in the fence, only six to go. My bracing has come down and there were no roses harmed in the process Tongue Unlike when they come back, my three standards may have to be lifted. I wanted it all done in one hit after we had saved the $$$ but MrK was stressing over the fence wobbles. So, this was the compromise. Our friend also looked at the fence where the cabbage tree is and it will need to be straightened after the tree has been removed. Fore warned, is fore armed.

Today MrK's personal caregiver comes and while she is here, I'll have a tutu in the garden. I spotted a pile of weeds I missed binning, and the soil could use a bit of a hoe to loosen those smaller weeds that magically appear. Fingers crossed the heat of the sun kills them as they lie on the soil, anything to save me weeding lol. The Furry One's meds need picking up from the vet and we need more dripping and bird seed for the birds. Not too many weeks to go before we stop feeding them. We now have eight waxeyes visiting the feeder.

I have all the colours for the cross stitch except for two Spotlight didn't have. Will improvise if I still don't have them by the time I need them. Spotlight in Hamilton is so hard to move around in, everything is jammed in the aisles making it very narrow and hard to pass people. I want to sew something to attach to the car's seatbelt as I'm short and the belt cuts into my neck even with the seat raised. I know you can buy a pattern (Sew Annie, I think) and will look for it later today.

Time to hang my woolies out, they will take a while to dry even with today's sunshine.

Morning all
Finally no rain some scattered cloud the insipid yellow thing is trying to shine through. No wind

Been to gym, no plans for today.

Managed to find a video tutorial to sort out the origami  twist dress is finished looks bit big so we will see if DD likes it if not it will be donated.
Not sure whether to start making a cot quilt or cut out nightshirt for DH .
Parkinsons support group nurse visited DH yesterday I think he found it worthwhile TG. But when he was first diagnosed he was totally dismissive of joining a support group. Sits next to bloke at a lunch last month who also has Parkinson  and hey presto he's joining. I suppose better late than never.

Enjoy your day

Morning everyone

No sign of a frost but cold enough for one.

The curtains are helping. It was still 14 degrees in the bathroom at 9pmish last night. and the one in the side back porch is helping too. I need another screw in that one its got a droop in the middle. so Ill do that later.

Could barely move my fingers this morning, but they are moving now.. The knees have deep down bruising cos they are sore. Just shadows at skin level... of course I could have put something soft on the table but One didn't think of that did she lol.

Finished my hydrangeas picture, I haven't even taken it off the tray table, Ill hang it up later and see if it actually looks like anything.
The next one is more stained glass windows with flowers. There are daffodils in there, which were my wedding flowers.

That dress looks cool Mica, BSB quality.

I had to get the dr to work with me to get MrP diagnosed with Parkinson's.. Cos we are / were always happy to have young staff in training with us , she asked him if he would be interested in helping get the staff who do tests to have a refresher. It worked and he did it, And yes Parkinson's. He also being Narcissistic meant he couldn't be asked to do the test or he would have hit the roof and never trusted her again

Not sure what I will get up to today, will make a shopping list. Only going local this week cos I dont need much and drink is on special at new world.

Have a wonderful day everyone

Tatty Cat, OHH?

The lawnmower people are here and there is nothing like the smell of freshly mown lawn.

Men, eh, mica. It took chatting to a complete stranger (as well as a frank conversation with me) at the medical center for MrK to acknowledge he needed to move about. Sometimes a stranger's advice is the push they need. My brother-in-law and aunt had Parkinsons. When my aunt died, she donated her brain to a Parkinsons study. They were thrilled as there are very few women with Parkinsons. When they finished with it, they gave it back to be buried with her.

The Tissue Donation Center phoned yesterday to arrange a phone appointment for MrK to donate his old hip bone. They e mailed the list of questions and it should take about half an hour. This is quite an interesting exercise.

I think Tatty has a rather challenging autoimmune disease. Vet visit tomorrow to talk it through but if it proves to be so I will have to let her go. Funny thing, I was describing the symptoms to my daughter last night and she said 'it sounds like MS...'which of course she would know and recognise. So I researched, and found a thing called CIDP which ticks all the boxes. Very like MS, only not brain focused, but limb nerves, and can affect just one limb as Tatty experiences it. Not curable, heavy medication long term with cortico steroids, not something I can manage.

But we will see.

Then I get home to discover my new h/w system is leaking again. So now I am in and out of the laundry drying all those things we keep in the airing cupboard, AGAIN! So cross, many rude words, but I am promised a tradie urgently, in between vet stuff tomorrow...

I do not need this. But, I have to laugh - winter of discontent? You aint kidding, lol...

Oh Hunnie not at all what you need.

Tatti has had a wonderful time in the last months spent with you, crossing fingers for you both.

Im saying Blue words for you, re the hot water... blardy idtios I bet the company went for the cheapest quotes they could get.
I hope they sort it out for you.

An update on Dianne, she finally went to the drs, they think she has a pinched nerve which is what I suspected so she has been waiting at home for hours for an ambulance.. So goodness knows what is going to happen with her appointments tomorrow and Friday re the cancer. Hopefully they will go to her at the hospital.

I warned her she may be laying at the hospital for hours too cos its nit life threatening.

OHH possibly an autoimmune condition but prob not CIDP. I have CIDP  luckily I am a chronic relapser currently in remission period. Cats can tolerate higher doses compared to humans and dogs.
Good to get another vet check diagnosis by eliminating possible causes. Then easier for you to make an informed decision for Tatty. Cyber hugs for you both its always stressful when our companions unwell

Best wishes for Tatty OHH. I've had similar situations to deal with in the past with my moggies so can sympathise. In support be aware that part of the deal in being the primary carer for these unique and independent house jungle creatures is the responsibility to lessen their suffering when the time comes to make that decision. I do hope tomorrow goes as well as it can do but best wishes for you if that is what is required.  Heart
