But, once they opened the board they discovered asbestos, so now the landlords have to remediate and replace the full boards so these guys can install new meters. Palaver expected, lol...

My place has asbestos cement board soffits - very common for builds from the 1970s and earlier. The stuff is ok if you leave it alone.

That is exactly what I pointed out to my slightly horrified neighbours. They weren't aware that the underlay to their current kitchen and bathroom floor coverings also contains asbestos, so refurbs layer on top of that rather than go through the hassle of stripping out. Only to be expected in buildings this old. And I remember pulling up fibre cement  boards that topped the deck in my last Taupo property, and stashing them under that deck  before nailing down a zillion timber planks. By hand. It taught me how to use a hammer  lol...

I did like that house, especially the kitchen. White twin ceramic sink unit, pink benchtops, glass cooktop, rimu trim, oh it was lovely that kitchen.  Big Grin

morning ladies Smile Another lovely day here so far.

Yep, the vinyl in our loo and laundry needs replacing and we were told they would put the new stuff over the top because it is so old it has an asbestos backing. Our old meter was also sitting on asbestos but they whipped it out without any protection at all. We told them what it was, but they just shrugged it off and carried on. Made sure the Furry One and us were nowhere near them when they did it. Asbestos is hidden in all sorts of places.

Great you enjoyed squash, zoe Smile It's a fast game for sure.

The back garden is weeded, one more fenceline to do before I start out on the roadside. There is growth starting and a couple of plants need dividing. And I have an even better Cunning Plan for Litchfield Angel Big Grin It involves removing a very sad azalea being kept for sentimental reasons only.

Grocery shopping for us today, the pantry is looking a bit sad. I need to buy MrK some Gatorade (sp) for when he has his colonoscopy. The registrar I spoke to suggested that would be better than water as it has electrolytes.

Better get cracking, washing machine has finished and MrK will need help dressing.

have a good day Smile

Raining again just wish  we could have more than 2 days without rain.
Noticed new growth on the rose in our back garden and pear tree has lots of buds when it b,ossumed last year we had no idea it was a pear.

Had nice time catching up with friends for lunch yesterday not sure what I will do today. DH is going to attend Parkinsons  support group meeting this afternoon this is significant as he is not much of a joiner I think it will be good

Received our power bill less than last month but we used more power compared to last year August was cold and wet  bring on the sun.

Enjoy your day

Morning everyone

Damp here, not sure if the lawn will be done or not. But its done by a ride on so it wont make that much difference.

My power bill in too, $148 which is heaps better than the last at $185.

Beep Beep Madam is back chatting me, She is sitting on the breakfast bar, which is something I dont like , but Im under the lappy, my breakfast, a hottie and blanket and Im not moving. And she knows that too

I realized why it hit me last night when they found the kids. Years ago my friends 3 kids had gone to their fathers. His new wife didn't like them and she locked them out of the house. Son couldn't get hold of his mother so he phoned me, they had a shed they could get out of the harsh summer sun in Napier. But had no food or drink.
So I had to talk him down of his hate of the police, which was his fathers attitude. Got the cops to pick them up, booked flights. The cops fed them and got them onto the plane.. I had never been soo pleased to get them home. Their mother wasn't a lot of help, she was a mess... I got crying drunk had never done that before. Yesterday just hit me like a wall. The same relief.
I hope they slept well last night, although I get what they will be going through with the loss of their dad too.

I have to do my peaches today and pop them in the freezer. But after that I have no jobs that need to be done.

My Temu will arrive today and Ill finally have a full vase of Lillies.

Blardy Fanny text at 6-10 am.. just cos she is awake it doesn't mean I am... I will text her and remind her no early communication Unless its life threateningly urgent..

Have a fab day everyone

My plans for afternoon  fell foul of my printer running out one colour. DH out with car. Was planning on printing off pattern I had down loaded for harem pants. Found some drapey animal print rayon in stash thought  why not. Could make nice lounge round home pants or they might look ok and I venturevout in them.

Popped to NL when DH got home could have bought a new printer for cost 4 cartridges of ink  still gold card knocked off $45

Spagetti bolenaise  for dinner

Ridiculous isn't it? Built in obsolescence when the consumables out cost the device that requires them...

Its ridiculous that the ink is dearer than the printer.

I never got my printer working so the new ink that I paid for has probably dried up.

I got 22 breakfasts of Peaches out of the 3 kilo tin which cost $6. so less than $2 a week. all cut and packed up some frozen.

I had a lamb chop and some cheesy mashed tatties with a good drop of pepper in. And discovered Madam likes the potato, probably more the cheese lol.

Got 2 hours painting in, Im enjoying it but haven't started on the purples and mauves yet... but it wont be long..

My order arrived and Im most pleased. My Hurricane lamp is now Much fuller with the Lillies and I love it. They were a bit squashed but they all fit in regardless.

I got these little hanging things which say " I hope we are friends until we die, then I hope we stay Ghost Friends and walk through walls and scare the shit out of people" Thats pretty much Me, Erin, Dianne, Jo and Gayle lol.. and thats who they are for.. lol I need an extra one for me tho.

I also got a wooden heart with a dog paw cut out of it, but I should have got two cos both Dianne and Jo have lost their pooches recently. Its those little things that we dont see so cheaply here which is why I like temu.

After two colour inkjet printers died with errors I couldn't clear, I bought a monochrome laser printer - much cheaper to run, and I don't miss the colour.
I do have other cameras!

I can beat that. I use a typewriter.
