Your yellow magnolia is way more advanced than ours, which is nowhere near flowering.   It was planted last year and is covered in buds, but as they grow I think they are all leaf buds.  Can't remember its exact name - Honey something.   At least it wasn't knocked back by the frosts, which severely burnt the Cameo and Starwars.

Our best Magnolia is Denudata "Gere", a late blooming hybrid.   It is presently covered in elegant ivory flowers and buds, and because it blooms slightly later it escapes the late frosts.

This is Magnolia 'Butterflies' and the flowers are a yellow version of the white magnolia that flowers first. We only planted it this time last year so are thrilled we have flowers coming on already. I guess planting permanent trees is a sign we plan to stay.
