Popeye, happy painting today, your bird picture you posted was awesome.
We've had a busy few weeks, miss is off to school camp tomorrow until Friday. I'm looking forward to the peace and quiet but also hoping she has a great time. She's only just in the last year started staying a night away from home so 3 nights will be interesting for her but an awesome experience. They are off to lake ranch in Rotorua
We have had blardy warm windy weather here in the bay

Tatty looks very like a cat I had years ago, a black tortoiseshell who used to somehow appear from nowhere if i was upset about something...still miss that cat.
Raining here now, Madame le Cat has come indoors. She disapproves of rain & when I was out grabbing washing she decided it was time to come in too. Looks like just a shower & hope it stops before the compulsory walk after lunch...she said hopefully.

Oh GJW I would have a cockatoo in a flash if I could accord one lol.. Maybe I could scrap the Aussie tip and get a bird lol.
But I also know they love for a very long time too.
We certainly show a House isn't a home until there is another creature within. I couldn't imagine not having a pet. Which is I my trip time will be short and sweet.. Mind you we had a budgie that used to travel with us. he would scream the house down, well the car if I didn't put the seatbelt on the cage..
He used to sense when we were getting closer to Taranaki, it was like he knew we were nearly home.
I've done some painting, and did some red for a change. It has really brightened it up. I still have some black to do but all the colours are coming.
I dont usually come online this time of the day but I figure now I should check my emails before the end of the day for Hospitals.
Zoe, those pics are great, the white dog has the most beautiful soulful face, you would just want to hug him, the tan lad looks like he could be quite a character.
Popeye Charlie is forty, I went into a little petshop along Mt Eden Road, my magpie had died and they had baby ones for sale, needless to say I came out with Charlie, cannot remember what he cost, but it could not have been to much, because I never had very much money, you have to watch him like a hawk when he is loose, it is OK if he is playing with the dogs, but by himself he is very destructive, he is noisy and takes instant dislike to some people others he is a big sook with.

Wow such a good age.. That's what would stop me from getting one. Cos I would want a young trainable one.
Our first canary was 14 when he passed away. Mr.P loved canaries, Im afraid I like trainable birds.
An older gentleman we knew had a Cockatoo, man he was the rowdiest Bird I have ever seen. and messy, but most birds are messy lol.. I dont know what happened to Jack now tho. his owner was in his 90s at the time.
Edit to add my brother in laws Cockatiel is Charlie.. Im ashamed to say i was talking to them on the weekend and I forgot to ask after him.
morning ladies Boy, we've had/having some rain! It was torrential overnight.
Yesterday MrK had his disability assessment done, and nope, he's not coming home. We are both devastated by it but accept he is in the best place for his care as there is no way I can do what the nurses do at home. Even with help, our home isn't geared up for all the equipment he will need. Today I will sort out our finances, once that is done and I know what's what, I will feel happier and stronger. I spent most of yesterday in tears which didn't help MrK much. He feels guilty enough without feeling this is all his fault. I keep telling him it isn't, it could just as easily have been me. My phone was going pretty much nonstop from the time I put it on the family group chat and FB for my family and friends. Had to charge my phone twice lol. I was texting my best friend and our son phoned. My friend had found him on FB and told him 'phone your mum!' lol. Our son is very grounding and puts things back into perspective, just the person I needed at the time.
I have a list as long as your arm to get through over the next few days. There will be some satisfaction in ticking them off though.

It's pouring and very warm, an inside day once I have got groceries. The garden will benefit, I see all the dahlias are out of the ground now.
That's a big thing to deal with KM. I presume Mr K can stay where he is, I wasn't sure if it was for permanent care. So much better for him, and easier for you, if so. A big adjustment for you, take care.
No plan for today, but there is baking, books, knitting and of course housework always available!

Lazy start to day woke up 4.30 gave up trying to sleep at 5am and read my book.
Quilt guild meeting last night interesting speaker and lots show and tell
Lunch with friends today need to sort out my shoe drawer got to find a space for the two pairs new footwear bought while away. I thinknI will 'archive" some shoes in box and if I don't miss them they can be donated .

I'm very sorry to learn this KM. Good luck as you work through your lists. I 'm a great believer in lists; not just the satisfaction of crossing items off ,but also a feeling of security when you've made a list with everything you need to do on it. And sometimes even the task of making a list will help with decision-making.

Wet Wet Wet... Not cold.
KM did you know you can get an extra disability allowance to help fuel your trips to see MrK.. A social worker told me and it helps. Thinks its around $50 a week / fortnight, cant quite remember. You dont have to pay it back and it helps.
And you are right. We are Not nurses and cannot be on duty 24/7. Nurses only do one shift a day. So dont feel guilty about that.
I am thankful that MrK isn't like MrP was with his nasty moods and how everyone was making plans without telling him.. He just didn't listen.
You will go through soo many emotions that its hard to keep up. Go minute by minute, its the only way to get through.
As you are not old enough for a pension things will change there too unfortunately. That to me was one of the hardest parts. But I was "Lucky" in one way that I had enough illness to put me on Supported Living, not the dole. Happy to help just holler on FB if you need anything.
Think Ill paint again today. My left wrist is being a pain so Ill straight jacket it again for a while. When you open bottles for drinking, including water bottles it really messes with arthritis dam it .
My new knee locked yesterday, in the back. It was weird. It didn't hurt just didn't want to move. So I sat for a minute, gave it a few jiggles stood up and it was fine.. not happened before. It still has the pain down the side and across the bottom but that's normal apparently.. it was just weird that it happened but pleasing that it didn't have extra pain to cope with
Sorry to hear that MrKM is not coming home although I suspect you probably knew that was coming kiwimade. Is he able to stay at Pohlen? Popeye has some good advice for you to as you navigate your new normal.
I too am loving the pet photos. I am a cat person and we've had some real characters over the years but my absolute favourite was Monty, a very large 11kg ginger fluffball who we had for 13 years. He was the only cat we have had that never caught a bird, mouse or prey of any sort in his life. His prize catch was a leaf!!! He's also the only cat we have had who crossed his paws. Hope the photos work. The black cat is Rascal and she was an excellent hunter and a third of the size of Monty. She liked to sleep with us under the blankets of course. Sadly we lost the two of them within 6 weeks of each other in 2022 although Rascal was 16 years so a good age.
