You can never have enough...
Thank you for all your kind thoughts and words, I do appreciate them. This afternoon I am feeling a lot stronger in many ways and more 'in control'. Smile

The local health shuttle doesn't work late so our 4.00pm appointment is too late for them. BUT Pholen is going to trust me to drive their van with all the lifting gear in it and tomorrow I will have a lesson on how to work it all. A small donation and top up the petrol is all they ask. How lucky are we to live in this community Heart

That is wonderful KM..

The bad one here makes you use White Roses or Driving Miss Daisy which are stupidly expensive.

The one MrP was in when he came home for a few hours was the Lions rental section. Was $25 I think it was.

Its not like you will drive like a teenager, so its good you can use it.

Had a nice time with Dianne. We actually walked around the section today. Not only did we find I think its amarillous (  I think) growing on the roof of the shed with the grapes which has little bunches on, but we had a look under the house.

There are some piles that have been replaced but some that are swinging in the air.

Having a house inspection on Monday.. I wont point them out, but I will do something about it after my surgery.

Healthy Home My A**... and we can see even more gaps, no wonder its so cold.

I noticed the toilet roll holder in the bathroom is almost covered in green mould. Its hanging under the leaky window. I WILL be pointing that out.

And Although I couldn't see it , Di could she said the area under the bathroom isn't great either and its no wonder the bath has moved.

Di's Hubby is both a Builder and a Butcher.. When we are all good , he is small so he will go under and get photos and they will have to do something.

But my surgery and recovery first. I will go back to  "Bird Baths", and when I visit Di I will have a proper shower.

Thank goodness I dont work or do work that needs heavy showering. I will get by. But the landlord is going to have a surprise for Christmas that's for sure.

I've never had mold in a house before.  Once I have shown the landlord on Monday I will clean it off.. I have photos already.

morning ladies Smile Spring has sprung and it's going to be a beautiful day. It's so weird not having the Furry One here.

Blimmen heck, popeye. That's a lot of stuff going wrong with the house and it sounds expensive.

Today is an admin day. I have miles of forms to fill out and documents to find. Luckily, I keep receipts, invoices etc in tidy folders on the computer and they are easily printed out. I need to buy some ink though and will do that on my way home from seeing MrK. I'm also having a lesson today on how to use the hoist in the hospital van and how to lock MrK's wheelchair in. Always something new to learn Smile MrK was so worried when he heard the hospital shuttle couldn't take us, I told him not too lol, that there would be a solution. I guess he has time to overthink things.

Time to get moving, the washing machine has finished, and the sheets need hanging out. Goodbye winter sheets and helllllooooo summer sheets.

have a good one Smile

Good Morning everyone.

A little chilly this morning but the sun is here. Think it should be a lovely day.

When Di and I were up the road yesterday it absolutely hosed down. We went into a shop to get out of it.

Yeah there's a lot of paper work at this time KM. And its handy being organized. Ink prices are shocking. I found it cheaper to go to the library and print things out.

Yep the landlord is in for a shock I think. She is doing an inspection on Monday but I wont be telling her about any of it yet. I will show her the mold under the leaking window in the bathroom tho.

When she text about the Inspection, she said its not about housework its about the smoke alarms etc.. I had to laugh. She and her sister live in Bomb sights. mess from the front door. Ive been in her sisters but never even seen the front door open at the landlords. We talk through the window. lol

Gayle is coming this morning to check her key works. Then Im out later for an appointment.. Need to decide when and where I am shopping. I will check out egg prices. As I dont eat them I dont buy often. I dont think I have brought any since moving here. And I wont test the last two I have. lol.

Have a good day everyone.

Edit to add.. I was talking to a school friend last night. been friends over 50 years. Im 10 kilos lighter than her.. Thats a first.. and my head was nuts letting that sink in. Shes going to visit on Labour weekend. bringing clothes and shoes.. she has a friend who is a shopaholic and hands stuff down to Tania. but they arent fitting anymore.. her family gave me the nickname of Puddin Belly when we were only young, and they were the only ones allowed to use it.

Her brother had a gastric sleeve and lost heaps of weight. She is considering it... She said he is now eating chocolate for breakfast lunch and tea and wondering why he is putting weight back on...

She has high BP and getting short of breath so i told her to make an appointment to see her Dr and get into the system. She is alot taller than me so I cant imagine her looking as big as I still feel lol.

Its about 20 years since I saw her lol

Good morning.

Gorgeous day already.

Yes KM, that feeling aptly described as weird!

Not good finding you are in an "unhealthy" home Popeye. I hope you can find something else before next winter unless a whole lot of remedial work done!

Coffee out this morning with Mr R and will get a birthday present while there ... garden centre attached  Smile

A library visit later ... 2 books rejected so need a return visit for more books.  No other plan for the day apart from making the most of the sunshine.

Enjoy the day all.

morning ladies Smile The fog is beginning to lift, thank goodness.

Yesterday the rest home cat visited MrK and I was able to lift her up for him to give her a good pat and scratch behind her ears. He had a huge smile on his face, and she purred so loudly the nurse walking passed his room could hear her. It's the little things in life Heart

I have finished some of the admin needing to be done. I need to ask the admin officer at Pohlen not to have MrK sign anything as he can't remember what he is signing. She had nurses ask him to sign something the other day. I'll show her the EPOA and ask for any admin to be directed to me. Tongue As I said to MrK, we paid good $$$ for that bit of paper so we are going to use it. And the nurses who were charged with asking him to sign had no idea either what it was all about. On top of that, it's not their job to ask him. Did you know, the secondary person for your EPOA is not allowed to live with you and preferably live out of the area. This stems from the Christchurch earthquakes when rescuers were finding it hard to find people and often whole families were trapped.

I'll finish the admin this morning and work a bit more in the garden before calling in to see MrK. I have his favourite, fresh pineapple, for him to munch on today.

have a good one Smile

We are back to cloudy skies and a stiff breeze.

Good that you have enacted EPOA  KM

Had a nice time with our friends yesterday and the DS called in with GK after school

Had soft tacos for dinner will turn leftovers into nachos  tonight

DD and DGD1 visiting this afternoon  DGD1 wants her nails painted and to go for a swim so I guess I am getting wet later.

Have 2 quilts that were donated this week with absolutely no quilting and wool batting. They would become a hot mess when washed. I think I will get a few of these now as I think the managers thought I was being fussy pointing out on other quilts the lack of quilting so I made up some  quilted squares with various amounts of quilting and put them through the wash cycle. Then they could see what I was talking about

Enjoy your day

I use a kantha quilt in the summer, just two fabrics laid together with lengthwise close lines of running stitches holding then together, no batting no fill of any kind.. Perfect for summer nights, and so pretty to use, and easy to make. Maybe that's a solution for these donations Mica.

I have a nominated next of kin, a good friend with a medical background who acts as my advocate when necessary. It is a comfort knowing she will step in if needed. And it is a hell of a responsibility as I know from taking that role myself for others more than once, but a huge gift we can give each other...

Morning everyone

The sun isn't too bright yet, but its cool. My hands are cold.

Glad you have the EPOA KM we didn't have one, it would have made things easier. I was lucky in the fact that one thing MrP did listen to me about. I told him not to sign anything I hadn't seen. And he didn't which is good. He was suspicious of everything at the home anyway..
Only once at the hospital he told them he didn't want me knowing anything. That made it very hard. So when he finally realized he needed stuff I told him get that form unsigned or I cant visit you.

I too did my money appointment yesterday.. Had the man told me what I needed to bring it would have been wayyy easier.. Cos I didnt have passwords but they had a young guy who I now call Wiseman who managed through my phone to find out my email password so we could get info for something else sent to me lol. Oddly an app came up with my password on it and hey Bingo we had what we needed... the App was the KFC one hahaha.. I said to him Ive never used it lol.. I just find out prices incase I can afford it lol

So not long now and it will all be sorted and under control. Another of the messes from MrP done and dusted.

When I was awake at 3am with cramp (first time in ages) I was thinking when I have scattered his ashes Im going to paint the box. He would like that and I will too. It can be used for something else. Oh might use my stencils on it and that would be fun.

I use an empty duvet cover in the summer. Never thought about doing quilting rows on it. That would make it easier and stay tidier too... Thank you Hunnie.

Dianne didn't get her chemo yesterday. She is having very high doses and she is having reactions, so they said they will skip yesterdays and see if it settles down.

Going to have a lazy painting day today.

Cricket tonight YAYAYAYAY and not against the Aussies .. Even better lol.

Have a fab day all

A pretty quilt cover would be perfect for a kantha quilt popeye, in fact I might just do one that way too! I have my eye on a TM auction that would be a perfect choice, because the pattern will mean I don't thave to chalk lines to follow with the stitches - mine are inclined to wander off course rather easily if I try to freehand them! And, if we don't fill a duvet cover it covers more of the bed, so win win! Thank you for that idea!

Your welcome Hunnie.

And thank you for your suggestion.

I've always, (Until I put my crochet blanket on my bed finally) dressed the bend with an empty duvet cover. I dont own any inners lol

Being that I sleep in the chair I wont get so tangled up if the cover is sewn shut.  Wont do it to my red ones, but I have others I can use .

Wow Hunni I had a look to see some Kantha Quilts online.

I can see why they would be wonderful to sleep under, even during the day it would keep pesky flies at bay too.

Soo many beautiful ones.

I Have a beautiful piece of fabric I brought when I was 16,, and Nope never used it. Cos it has tinsel or tinfoil in it. Fine strands. and I never knew what it would be like when it came time to wash it.

I could just fold it and stitch it and use it.. or it will never be used.

Just need to figure out what crate it will be in.

Ive been little Miss domestic today. Two loads of washing, cleaned the crockpot and put rice on, precooked sausages for the freezer and Dinner. Cooked all my potatoes,, well it was 6, and Im about to make stuffed sausages for my tea, and make the rest into Tuna patties and crumb them for the freezer.

Then Ill bring the washing in and have a good night playing scrabble and watching the cricket.

I spent the day doing my vegie pots for the summer. Or at least some of them. Bok choi, beetroot, garlic, and leeks so far, and got the bulb pots dragged away under the feijoa hedge to die down and rest till December when I can unearth the bulbs and store for next year. Bit sore now, but we'll see how I feel tomorrow. Good to get started on that programme though, instead of just thinking about it. Will need another couple of bags of potting mix!

Metallic threads are okay to handwash popeye, just use a squeeze of dishwashing detergent in the tub and rinse well, it should be fine, and perfect for a bit of stitchery...
