they eat these horrible fishy things called rollmops.

Big difference between Hákarl and rollmops. My Dutch father loved rollmops and I acquired a taste for them when I was a child. Found some fresh ones in a fishmongers on Southend, Essex a few years back and they were as good as I remembered. Essentially herring fillets pickled the same way as you would onions, complete with the fillets being wrapped around chopped (pickled) onions. Great food to accompany a pint or two of ale
