Wasn't there a way of retrieving pandemic funding to businesses if those businesses were proved to be lax in their application of the rules? I'm sure I heard the PM say something along those lines in one of the afternoon pressers...

Yes, there is. Some large companies have voluntarily repaid, others have been nudged towards repayment, and there is a mechanism for auditing profits and requiring repayment. Administered by MSD.

Hell I know of people who were on the benefit who applied, and were granted, wage subsidies for their "business". In some cases tens of thousands of $$$.

I know someone personally who works at MSD investigating where those subsidies may have been abused and they have been told POINT BLANK not to go after those people. In one case an individual who got almost $100k. They have even told to focus only on businesses.
