The Police Commissioner should be sacked!

Says it all. Inept.

It has been a catastrophic miscalculation by the police and has left two plausible scenarios. One involves a potentially violent confrontation, which some protesters, already desperate to frame themselves as victims of the state, will encourage; and two, a prolonged occupation that ends when the pandemic does, and all restrictions are lifted.

For the people of Wellington, neither outcome is desirable nor acceptable.

pretty sure this strategy is all in consultation with the government. They're happy with it, he's happy with it. God knows why but there you go

The police are guilty of vandalism by neglect. They have allowed anarchy and disorder in our streets and parks.
We have no protection out there from scumbags and criminals. Too hard basket? No stomach for it? Intimidated? Frightened? I cannot think of a credible reason.
It's going to be very hard for me to take any of our laws seriously now, and how they can expect parking tickets to be paid?
Impotent. Flaccid. Watery. Woke.

It is absolutely outrageous that the useless Police Commissioner hiding in his office has now allowed the number of illegally parked vehicles bringing Wellington to a complete standstill to have doubled in a matter of a few days.
My son in law is an ex Police Sergeant and he is just furious about the current situation.
He says one of the Polices’ most preciously guarded and hard fought treasures is the reputation, respect and co-operation they have from 95% of the NZ public which has now been seriously undermined by this dithering.
He fully expects Coster to be sacked, and especially so if there is a change of government in the near future.
It is unacceptable that a capital city has been so badly crippled and our own Police force can do little more than scratch their heads.
This quote sums it up perfectly really:

When people in Wellington see that the law is not being applied to people who are threatening and abusing people and making death threats, and parking their vehicles in the middle of the road so that people can't go about their business, they start to wonder why they should follow the law themselves, and the basic legitimacy of the police starts to fall over,” Jones said.
Monash University criminology lecturer Dr Ross Hendy said there was a concern that people would think the police were ineffective because they appeared to be doing nothing.

Appeared to be doing nothing?

They are doing nothing. Just as well we are a compliant law abiding population, with the exception of this rabble and the few attention seeking notables using them as a good excuse.

Well their brutality didnt really achieve anything at the beginning did it?
An old lady got broken bones after being pressed down onto ashphalt.
Plenty of footage ive seen on facebook of the police treatment of peaceful protesters.

Thumbs up to how they are now handling it in a more civilised way, but its damaged their reputation how they were treating protesters earlier on.

There was nothing peaceful about their protests in the early days

Silly woman. Most sensible old ladies know to stay home and watch the idiots on tv, not in person. Pretty obvious the situation was going to descend into anarchy with all those halfwits gathering to share their idiocy.

And for the record, the aggression shown by the rabble far outweighs that shown by the Police. If I was in charge they'd all be hosed down with water cannon on an hourly basis.

Who wants to deal with seditious criminals? Theyve shown to be a ragtag bunch of butt hurt babies. They are pissy about being separated. Too fucken obtuse to figure it out. And too stupid to be taught.
They are untrustworthy, antisocial losers. Liars and delusionals. Mentally impaired, self absorbed, undereducated ferals.
It's been lovely not having them around, long may it last.

I think the difference lies simply in the matter of numbers. If a few people had turned up they could have been moved on, but this thing was allowed to snowball into too big a problem. If they are moved on by force, they will simply return. There is talk of fencing off the Beehive, that is one way of permanently losing the battle...

This protest is imported dissidence. I don't think anyone knows how to fix it.

What's the umbrella meant to do ? lollol cheers for the laugh.

Crikey nanny state more like kindergarten state. Rob Muldoon must be turning in his grave. "But we have the biggest gang in New Zealand".

Typical bloody labour pander to a few while the majority pay for it.

Something is wrong with NZ governments no matter who is in, we struggle decade after decade.
As someone said the other day on the radio $16kg for friggin mince (or whatever ridiculous price it is)
when we live in a farming nation.

High time there was a price for Kiwis and a price for export like other countries with brains and morals do!

When the first lot of protesters turned up they should have been met with swift action, not sat back and let it snowball.

Send in the army like they talking about but that's all they do is talk! Bloody old red shirts should not have gotten in the first time round, was only down to the Revengeful Maori carving. The bronze medalist got to choose the government.
We should be like Germany the gold medalist gets to choose who the government's going to be under MMP.

What a low bastard the Maori carving is going against the wishes of the majority of kiwis.

Yah couldn't write this comedic shite!
