Thousands of Russian women travel to Argentina to give birth because they don't need a visa to enter the country & a child born there is automatically a citizen which makes it easier for parents to eventually also become citizens.

"Alex Slepenkov, 36, knew he could be forced to join the military and fight in a war he had tried to protest. He and his wife, Natasha Slepenkova, 30, feared the country would turn into North Korea, closing its borders to the world.
After they learned in September they were expecting their first child, they began looking up alternatives. 


Argentina, unlike many countries, still allowed Russians to enter. And it's a country that grants citizenship to children born on its soil - allowing the baby's parents to apply, too. 

"We wanted to give our baby the option to go wherever he wants, to do whatever he wants," said Slepenkov, an engineer. "To grow like a free person."
But within days of the couple's arrival in Buenos Aires in January, the Argentine government began sounding alarms.
Immigration authorities in this South American country barred six pregnant Russian women from entering in February, alleging they had claimed falsely to be tourists. The headlines about the women followed reports that two suspected Russian spies who were detained in Slovenia recently were citizens of Argentina.
The new parents are part of a historic exodus of Russians. As many as 1 million are estimated to have fled Russia in the year since the start of the invasion, a migration similar to those during the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917 and the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.

 The phenomenon has spawned an industry of agencies that charge thousands of dollars for help finding maternity hospitals and filling out paperwork.
Still, growing concerns about the Russians' motives have cast a shadow on families genuinely hoping to build a life in Argentina.
"We don't want Argentines to think of us as parasites," Alex Slepenkov said."

2nd World War Nazi's used to flee to different parts of South America to escape the war trials that the Allies conducted, some of them may have gone to Argentina.

Not really ironic since the Russians are Communists escaping tyranny in their own country, Russia.

  I seem to recall reading somewhere that they'd managed to eventually track down a few of them & take them back to stand trial.

More than a few, the Israeli's set a special service to track them down, and then bring them back, to The Hague probably, for trial.

Wasn't Argentina seen as a safe haven for Nazis at the time? They had their own Nazi party over there and were politically aligned with Nazi Germany.
I believe thats correct that Israel was involved in tracking down those that fled over there to be bought back for trial.
I dont know how many were taken back, but its said to be in the thousands that fled over there.

It is said that Hitler escaped there and died around 1962. That would require a serious rewrite of history if that is proved true.

They did manage to get some of those who fled; the Simon Weisenthal centre was involved in tracking many, including Adolf Eichmann.

We are supposed to just trust Russia of all people? Kinda ironic we can be selective when we want to trust the Soviets (Starlin) Seems a bit convenient that they disposed of the body in an undisclosed location, no photos taken? Why so secretive? None of this makes sense. Perhaps its just a conspiracy, but I would love to see more evidence. I would have thought Hitler would have taken any chance possible to escape.
We are literally trusting the russian account, they got to his bunker before the US did.

I love alternative history stories.
The film Grey Wolf touches on the whole theory on Hitler escaping to Argentina, supposedly based on first hand accounts.
Another great series is "for all mankind" discusses topics on where we could be had the apollo program continued along with space exploration.

I'm sure you're right & there's no way the Russians would have proudly paraded his nibs as their best ever trophy. 
Especially as they were such big fans of his after his attempt at invading their country....

There's an alternative history Philip Roth book, The plot against America which is based on the pilot Lindberg becoming President which is an interesting read, also a film or Tv series made from it.
