What's the deal with Hoyas?
#1
Why do people pay so much for them on TradeMe? I get that they're slow-growing, but they're not particularly attractive. Is the market only being driven by people thinking they can propagate them so they can relist multiple plants in a few years time. Suspect that quite a few buyers don't realise how slow-growing they are.

They do have lovely flower heads once they get going. Apparently. Mine is perched on top of the pantry being almost totally ignored. Every once in a while one of my friends will climb up and shout it a drink. Apart from that it’s pretty much just a few nearly a metre long strands of leafy boredom… I was given it by a dear friend in Napier. Hope it flowers before we both wind up in the glorious garden in the Universe :-)
