The reason our education system is in a mess
#1
Seems Labour is intent on destroying it.
Look what they have done to the curriculum when it comes to science.
All the important subjects such as physics, biology and chemistry is gone and replaced with a bunch of Maori science that is not real science (AKA mātauranga Māori) https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/te-manu-korih...anga-maori

Winston Peters has also come out and said that they are teaching a bunch of woke LGBTQ++ propaganda in the schools now too.

It's getting so bad now that my friend is moving their kids into a Christian school to get away from this and he is an atheist.
Unapologetic NZ first voter, white cis male, climate change skeptic.

draft
noun
1.
a preliminary version of a piece of writing.

Don't Panic!

Quote:Education Minister Jan Tinetti said there was no question the final curriculum would include chemistry, physics and biology and other core science topics.

"The Ministry of Education, experts and the sector are working on a new curriculum and are testing different options - this is essentially a draft of a draft."

This is the problem with reading things taken out of context

Oh - so Winston woke up then did he? And spotted the gullible plonkers ever ready to believe the usual nonsense & latched onto them.

Situation normal, Winnie's found his audience.

Why doesn't your friend home school his kids if he thinks the public system is so bad? Instead, he chooses to let someone else fill their heads with religious stuff he doesn't believe in...

Weird.

Did I hear the news correctly the other day, Chris Luxon committed to 'maintaining' the health and education spend? Not exactly inspiring...

Very few of our politicians are inspiring though.

Maintaining the current rate is a cut - inflation requires an annual increase.

Maintaining also means no investment. Which was what they did last time round, leaving it to the new government to try and play catch up...

No wonder both areas have major problems.

And I remember how very well a caretaker govt functioned, back when we had a 'hung parliament'....

I don't suppose we'll get that lucky again though..sigh. Rolleyes Big Grin Big Grin

Remember how during covid we were so grateful to the nurses and doctors and teachers and all the other vital people we rely on completely? Our heroes, we called them.

Now they get to strike to earn a liveable wage.

That's not my kind of new normal.

Mine either - & I suspect not OK with most of us. I think health & education should be the top priorities for every govt, here & everywhere, & both occupations should be well paid with good working conditions. With a mechanism to weed out those attracted solely by the excellent pay.

Yeah, I know. Lucky dreams are free, eh or I'd be in hock  forever... Big Grin Big Grin

Interesting that there are policy leakers in the government. Are the lambs starting to roar (quietly, and from under heavy disguises, lol)...

They'd better be very heavy disguises! Or heads might roll...although you have to wonder if perhaps our glorious leader might have had a hand in it, possibly. It would be a means of getting out information sneakily - or maybe not, not sure he's sneaky enough.

Although - they are all politicians, & they don't come much sneakier than that particular species. Rolleyes Big Grin

Don't come much sneakier?   How about some of our "journalists" AKA clickbaiters and fabulists ?   Not all so-called leaks are actual leaks, many are confected for click bait.   And did you notice that Tova O'Brien is now writing for Stuff?

Yes, she has had an interesting career ride these past months...

These days I try to exercise discretion when it comes to stuff. Too much tragedy porn, too much opinion disguised as news, but the cartoons are great...

Perhaps, our politicians & 'reporters',  (or what  passes for reporters these days) are in a competition for which group can be the most deviously sneaky.

I must be really, really old because I can remember when news was about who, what, where, when, why.... Rolleyes
