Here's our four legged crew, we're both allergic to cats so always had dogs...

Our old girl, 17 going on 18, labrador, border collie cross, named Sasha

When living in the old place there was a stretch of bush that K loved to explore, one time he thought hide & seek was a good idea

I've had about 21 over the years. Not all at once of course. Pk was the oldest, made it to 19, healthy and well right up until her final week.

Current cat is Smooch, named for obvious reasons.

She chose us at the SPCA. She does not like other cats so must be only, she demonstrated that when we went to see another cat there, smacking them out the way, following us around, headbutting and purring, insisting we pick her.

So of course we did. The other cat was lovely and I felt bad, but nice SPCA lady let me know when she was chosen, which turned out to be later that same afternoon.

I allowed her to become my brothers cat mainly, She hunts. She likes to sleep up in the top shelf of wardrobe in winter, and out on the deck in summer.

Eats: Gravy type cat food, Jimbos, occasional biccies, raw fish, raw meat and mice.

Some cats are extremely good at choosing humans; I've seen it several times & its has happened to me  once or twice too. Smile

They are the best of mates and huge time wasters. But when they decide to do zoomies though the house up and down the stairs and over all the beds, which can be two or three times a day, I could quite happily put them beside the letterbox with a note free to a good home. But when they are asleep they are wonderful.

K is the 3rd Shepherd I have had as part of the family, the Grandchildren absolutely adore him.

While we socialised him both with Humans & other dogs from day 1, he is somewhat wary of other dogs [ been attacked twice]. in saying that we have just moved & a couple of houses. up there is a 10 yr Pug, they have become good mates.

Liked your posting of Fred & Wilma,

I have acquired a new cat. She looked perfectly normal & apart from having her own crate (a dog sized crate, which I hope eventually to do away with) seemed perfectly fine.
Until yesterday when having apparently decided that she lives here now, it was time to let the human know who's in charge.
Her first move was to push the phone off the desk onto the floor. An accident .I thought, could happen to any cat. Until I caught her casting her eye in the direction of the recently picked up phone with a speculative gleam. I had a quiet word with her which she proceeded to ignore.

Later, once she thought I wasn't looking, she went after the dogs crate. The dog was inside it at the time, & cat was attempting to reach though the bars & smack the dog. There was another exchange, which she also ignored. And then slightly later, I caught her pushing the crate door,in a blatant attempt to trap the dog inside it.

Oh dear. Why do I always get the weird ones...

Oh Liith7, that made me laugh, that is the norm around here. The dog is low on the pecking order, according to the cat. I think everything is low on the pecking order according to the cat, including me!!! Cats seem to own everything and whoa betide if you do not follow their rules. If Fred is not feed when he thinks he should be he really does have a tantrum.
Good luck with you new fur baby, great that she is settling in so well

They do seem to believe themselves to be top priority, don't they. I blame the ancient Egyptians, they worshipped cats & cats apparently are never going to forget that. Rolleyes Big Grin

Watch Jackson Galaxy about 3:30 tomorrow afternoon on Eden.

One thing I've learned from the programmes is that attention seeking behaviour is often just boredom. His homework is usually to play hard with the cat. Partly to tire it out, and partly to align with the HCKE instinct (that's Hunt, Catch, Kill, Eat).

When our guy gives me the "look" it's time to get out the piece of string that is his favourite toy. I put the end under mats etc and drag it through and he'll have a session of total madness trying to catch it. Then at some point will follow the line up to the spool then to my eye and say "so it's just YOU on the end of that" and the game is suddenly all over. Until next time.

We don't have any cats but the neighbour's cat "has us". Well not really. We don't let it in the house or feed it but we don't chase it away and it's quite at home around us. I don't pet it.

Well, I have a car which is off the road. A wagon with tints. I had the tailgate open on Monday. There were 5 cats congregating around my carport on Wednesday midday. Later in the day I opened the car, out popped this cat. What a surprise. It was more friendly than usual and I was quite talkative myself I'd have to say. I put the tap on for it but it didn't want to get it's whiskers wet. Must have been in there all Tuesday and Wednesday. How it did not die from the searing heat I do not know. Car needs a good vacuum now; fur everywhere.

Lucky cat! That's a long time to be too hot.

I have a cat; the sort of cat which knows a sucker when she spots one, so I have  a cat... Rolleyes Big Grin
