Google search, currency default

Online shopping. What I want is for Google to default display an exchange rate amount from US dollar to NZ. At the moment if I Google a dollar amount, it shows me NZ>AU but I want US>NZ
A small thing I know but I'd like to fix it so I don't have to keep selecting from dropdown boxes each time. What am I missing ?

Another really good solution. I must have been using this some years ago (adding "usd" to the amount in Google). Then I must have inadvertently switched to copying the dollar amount c/w dollar sign(which doesn't work). Now, if only I can remember that at my age... Thanks. Awesome!

and as an aside, if the payment is processed via Paypal, my experience has been that buying in USD and letting the credit card do the USD NZD conversion is always cheaper than buying in NZD and letting Paypal do the conversion...
