Israel is “abusing its powers” as an occupying force in Gaza to deny visas to certain UN staff, Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur to the occupied Palestinian territories, told Al Jazeera.
Her comments come as Israel’s Foreign Minister Eli Cohen wrote on X on Monday that he had instructed his ministry to deny a visa extension for a UN employee in Israel and to reject the visa request of another. Cohen accused the UN of cooperating with the “propaganda of the terrorist organisation Hamas”.

As we reported earlier, Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer is in Washington, DC, where he has reportedly just met with US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan.
The pair discussed efforts to bring home the remaining captives held in Gaza by Hamas, a White House official told Reuters.
The pair also reportedly discussed transitioning to a different phase of the war, according to Reuters."
Really - perhaps "the pair" might manage to discuss an immediate ceasefire, allowing Red Crescent & other humanitarian organisations into Gaza to try to fix as much of the harm done as is possible.
And then perhaps 'the pair' might even try to make a start on peace in the long term...removing Hamas leaders & Israel's righwing govt would be an enormous step in the right direction.
They won't though. Its all just going to carry on with each side gleefully murdering each other's children & wrecking each other's countries.
This,in the season of goodwill to all for some...
