Looks like this might be next for the National chopping block...

Ardern launched the initiative with French President Emmanuel Macron to international acclaim in 2019, when she was still prime minister.
The stated aim was to combat the spread of terrorist activity and propaganda online by seeking global cooperation from other nations, along with social media and tech giants.
It followed the March 15, 2019, mosque terror attacks in Christchurch, which claimed 51 lives and was live-streamed on Facebook.

A spokesperson for the prime minister confirmed: “Christopher Luxon met with special envoy Dame Jacinda Ardern just before Christmas to discuss her work.

“Decisions have not yet been made as the prime minister is waiting for advice from officials,” they said.
Asked to clarify when that advice is expected to come back and decisions made around the role, the spokesperson said on Monday they “don’t have anything to add to the statement at this stage”.

There are probably many other things the 450 to 500k it is going to cost the tax payers for her to continue could be spent on - like school uniforms for kids who won’t be returning to school as their parents can’t afford their uniform

Unlikely much will eventuate from this govt other than words & window dressing, although to be fair, it is a difficult thing to try to police

But a change in leadership, lack of political will and “significantly” changed online landscape means the Call is unable to respond to issues Dr Sanjana Hattotuwa​ a researcher from the Disinformation Project, described as “unimaginable” four years ago.

I notice more and more schools are providing free uniforms. Our local Catholic school has just announced they're doing it this year. Nice to see some more of the church wealth going where it should.

One thing though, perhaps uniforms should be a thing of the past. They are there for all the wrong reasons when you consider 21st c social ideologies.

But then, so is formal education...
