Politicians to get pay rise

I'm sure we're all thrilled to hear that our beloved politicans may be getting a pay rise, & we can all feel a lovely warm glow, knowing that they'll want for nothing if it goes ahead...

Unlike those their policies have put out of work, they'll still be able to afford their weekly groceries (including that odd tin of caviar & bottle of fizz) which will no doubt  please all those who voted for them, knowing their MP's will not arrive at work suffering the effects of insufficient food. Or indeed, insufficient of anything at all.

Unless of course,we were to count a healthy,fully functioning conscience...

Pretty sure they will take it though, they will fall back on the "we have no say in the matter" / "decision is out of our hands" / independence of the remuneration authority, that kind of garbage

Yeah well, its been an entire six years since their last increase.

 Which I don't doubt they'll mention. Frequently...
