I can remember a Christchurch Police Sergeant that I knew in the late 70's telling me of a raid the police made to Springbank (an earlier iteration). That place even invited bus tours of their premises probably to recruit new members.

There was a really creepy vibe about that place;we had to stop there to get directions once years ago & they were exceptionally keen to get us away very quickly...

That seems to be what the court has decided, & I hope all those people are now properly paid for all their work, even if it bankrupts Gloriavale.

Bankrupting Gloriavale would be the best solution as it would likely wake them up from their mind control and give them back their much deserved freedom.

Yes, as long as all of those who lived there or still do are given plemty of support. There's a group made up of ex Gloriavale people now, so that's likely to comei n handy if the whole place shuts. 

It must be extremely difficult to have grown up in such a  place & then to leave it for the wider world.

Yes the leavers trust has largely been the main driving force for supporting those that leave.
I can't possibly imagine how you even start to rehabilitate these former members, they don't even know about basic things we take for granted, such as bank accounts, birth certificates, etc.

Yes I remember that happening; some of them escaped but not many. We seem to have e capacity for being fed loads of bollocks by an authority figure & being gullible enough to believe almost anything under the right conditions.
