Phil Goff sacked after comment about Trump
#1
This seems very much over the top; his comment was simply asking a question, & asking whether Trump understands history is certainly relevant to current events. I'm not a fan of his but surely any politician asking that particular question is doing their job.  Dodgy

in order to be old & wise, you must first be young & stupid. (I'm still working on that.)

The problem is that Goff wasn't in a politician's role when he made those comments but was a diplomat. Different set of criteria in play as to what can be publicly voiced in either of those positions.

Nonetheless, he asked a question which is being asked by quite a lot of people all over the world at present. Sacking just seems OTT.

I am increasingly disgusted by the silence of our leadership over the antics of the American despot.

It is craven cowardice and it makes them complicit in his insane policies. Arselickers, to put it politely.

Winston made the right decision, Goffs comments were out of place in his position.

Yeah - but we really shouldn't expect anything  else from this govt. The best hope is that they'll be a one term govt - which happily, looks more & more likely.

I just wish another party would say that,if voted in, they'll dismantle Neoliberalism as swiftly as possible.
