It would be good if they just released him, but that doesn't seem likely.
Senator Chris Van Hollen will travel to El Salvador to check on wrongly deported man if he's not rerturned by mid week. He's already writen to the President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele & says if he isn't returned by mid week, he will go to El Salvador to check on his condition & discuss his release.

Nothing like a bit of political grandstanding... He better be careful though or they'll give him a white suit and crocs and he'll never be seen again...

Although I suspect the senator will be officially warned of possible consequences by El salvador & probably decide not to go after all - 'for the good of his constituents' or something...

The senator was able to have a meeting with Kilmar Abrego Garcia. El Salvador's president has refused to release him & the senator was stopped by armed guards on his way to the meeting. The El Salvador president appeared to mock the visit, commenting that Mr Garcia had 'miraculously risen from the death camps & torture in the tropical paradise of El Salvador, & having been seen to be alive & healthy now gets to stay in El Salvador's custody.'
