The question needs to be why vitamin D is becoming more deficient in newborns, is it diet, lifestyle or less nutrition in our food?
I take a fair bit of supplementation for Vitamin D, its good for your immune system and has anti-inflammatory properties which helps with a number of health conditions.

As a population bombarded with cautionary information advising avoidance of UV (sunlight) and salt we have vitamin D and iodine deficiencies. Go figure.

Yes but the danger of high frequency radiation from sunlight from the thinness of the atmosphere and other factors is unique in NZ and parts of Australia and South America so there's a good reason to hide from the sun and avoid U.V.C.
