How the roots of the ‘PayPal mafia’ extend to apartheid South Africa
https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2...uth-africa
Peter Thiel is mentioned a number of times in this article, here's one of them
"They include Peter Thiel, the German-born billionaire venture capitalist and PayPal cofounder, who was educated in a southern African city in the 1970s where Hitler was still openly venerated. Thiel, a major donor to Trump’s campaign, has been critical of welfare programs and women being permitted to vote as undermining capitalism. A 2021 biography of Thiel, called The Contrarian, alleged that as a student at Stanford he defended apartheid as “economically sound”."
"The South Africa into which Musk was born in 1971, and to which Thiel moved as a child from Germany, was led by a prime minister, John Vorster, who had been a general in a fascist militia three decades earlier that allied itself with Hitler."
He bought his citizenship in NZ for $5,000,000
It's not the least charm of a theory that it is refutable. The hundred-times-refuted theory of "free will" owes its persistence to this charm alone; some one is always appearing who feels himself strong enough to refute it - Friedrich Nietzsche

NO ONE,especially racists, should be able to buy citizenship here.

Actually I'm afraid it may have been the Labour Party that allowed him in, welcomed him and his money really although I could be recalling that wrongly.

That long ago, I thought it was more recent. He is also a founding member of the 2025 club of billionaires whose plan is to undermine the structure of societies causing unrest and rebellion, and thus the military will be called in to deal with the rioters and then hold the counties under marshal law and at the same time further reduce government funding towards Superannuation and Medic Aid and transfer that money into billionaires bank accounts (already happening in USA) Musk and DOGE, at the same time open up public parks to exploitation by corporations, also old world forests along the West Coasts of Canada and America destroying these unique forests by corporate logging which is forbidden at the moment.
Trump has already de funded the National Parks.
Probably start happening in NZ soon, National are already opening up exploration for gas and other such exploits previously protected.
2025 is a conspiracy by the billionaires to take over the running of the world as they see the writing on the wall and what with global warming and population explosion they are getting as much as they can whilst they can and accelerating the process to be in their favour before inevitable collapse, then they retreat to their hidey holes like NZ to wait it out in the long run in their fortresses. Thiel's underground one is in an area somewhere around Queenstown. Trump is their puppet, a bit unmanageable but heading in the general direction they want.

Caught this interview on Al Jazeera last night. Ruth has certainly done some study into Trump and his strategies, including mentions of Musk and Thiel's involvement.

And that type of underhanded attempt to set up what would be virtually a dictatorship is an excellent reason to prevent anyone who's extremely wealthy from entering politics, & from donating to any politician or political party.
There's a lot that seems to be quite nasty & perhaps even evil, going on in politics at present.

Thanks harm_less, there was a lot of hatred in South Africa when I used to go there every 2 years for a 1 month holiday for the 22 years that we were in Zambia. Very strong feeling from both sides but especially from the Afrikaans to the indigenous population and vice versa. Now that they are the Rainbow Nation some of that may have abated but for instance my next door neighbour's daughter in Zambia, Jackie Needham, was murdered in Durban about 3 years ago. Can't believe she's gone, I used to play with all the children in that family in my younger years growing up. She ran a boarding house and was killed for the weekly rent taking cash.

Sorry harm_less, interesting link. South Africa has a complex history. The Voortrekker Monument is one of the most interesting places I have ever been to, including any I have been to in the rest of the world sight seeing.
