This is a good move, could probably work well elsewhere too. It makes good sense too to have the rent adjustable depending on the family's circumstances.

This is what saved me. I really really wish everyone who needs it had access to the privileges I enjoy in pensioner social housing. Honestly, it makes living on a limited income possible.

Truth is, we just do not know what the future holds for us, and this safety net is an absolute gift when the world collapses around us.

Yes; you'd think that any govt with the well being of all its people as a priority, might just manage to make good quality housing (as opposed to flimsy little rabbit hutches) a priority.

Unfortunately those who are in power, some of whom have even said they have already got it made, Luxon, are still continuing to money grub and don't want to stop and make decisions which would help those in the country in a lower socioeconomic group, the attitude is that everyone is on their own and devil take the hindmost, and if they are down on money then it is their own fault and they are probably lazy.

Luxon and others are just helping their mates in the old boys club just as they always have done which reinforces the inequalities between the rich and the poor and exacerbates the historic problem of unequal sharing of the riches in the country by the management system being tweaked to favour the privileged which they do quite willingly and without conscience as a right they have claimed as their own.

all housing costs money in fact social housing probably costs more per m2 than a "normal" house build

who actually paid for the iwi housing? not saying its not a good idea but considering the amount of taxpayer money getting into the hands of iwi leaders there shouldn’t be a homeless Maori in NZ

Housing in NZ should,imo be made a priority. It was not always like this. It does not have to be like this.


Other countries have done & so could we. If a govt wanted to. If a govt wasn't hell bent on imposing yet more cruel, greed based Neo Liberalism.

Social housings costs more for a few reasons, always top spec because whoever has designed it isnt paying for it, lots more ticket clippers in the mix
