Help with SD card
#1
I have a simple Samsung ao1 phone which I purchased way back when Covid was around. I have WhatsApp installed which now tells me that I need to update.

It also tells me that I do not have enough space. I have installed a 32GB SD card but I cannot move ANY App to it. Is this normal with a cheap phone?

you could try to format the card from storage settings - phone will format it just how it likes it. Make sure there is no data on it though that gets wiped. and not all apps can be moved...
This world would be a perfect place if it wasn't for the people.

I used to  have a Samsung tablet that  was always running out of space and put in a SD card and moved  some of the apps  to  it.  One problem was that  when ever the app was updated  it was moved back to the main storage again so  it  ran out again  and I had to  move them back  to the SD card.  Not sure if that   has changed at  all.

I remember having to install a 3rd party program on an old Android phone to move things to the SD card. The OS would barely touch anything itself, even if you told it to.

I think the program I used was called App2SD, but that was in Android v4 or around there. I don't know how or if such a thing would work on more modern versions now.

Edit: It was Link2SD, not sure if it's suitable anymore, recent reviews say it doesn't work, and to use something else. I think it's outdated now, but it worked great when I used it back then.

There are certainly other programs with the same features with better reviews, that you could try.

Thanks for the tip. I gave up in the end and bought a new phone with a bit more grunt.
