The Helen Clark govt changed the laws & created this situation, supported by the National party. How the devil could they have not understood what would happen? The 2006 Citizenship amendment act changed things so that children born here no longer had automatic citizenship, so now although they can go to school here, they're unable to work or get further education.
This needs to be changed, & quickly, its deeply unfair.

And yet, we have had that in place for all those years, with nary a squeak...
Says something nasty about us, doesn't it?
Just to stop perceived birth tourism. Primarily aimed at the Asian population. Round the same time as people were bleating about this country being a retirement dumping ground for the abandoned elderly of foreign visitors. And their making use of the way NZ residents got free entry to Oz...
We are a deeply xenophobic nation at heart.
