9 for me, on a gorgeous afternoon spent pottering about in the village. Expensive though, groceries hit an all time high of $187 and that was only one bottle of cheap plonk. It was all those salad vegies I couldn't resist...

Only seven today. What a fascinating nut fact.
Salad veges! We hardly ever have to buy veges because we grow them, but we have special guests for dinner tomorrow and thought that a nice salad would be better than cabbage, which is all we have ready at present. At NW a butterhead lettuce cost $5 and a punnet of Roma tomatoes $11 ! I know tomatoes are out of season, but only a few weeks ago a punnet cost $8, which was bad enough. Are the growers pushing the cost, or is it the supermarkets being ever more greedy? No more tomatoes for this household from now on until our own are ripe.

My salad was deeply yum. My greens are too young to harvest, so I bought mixed leaves, a cuke, and a punnet of little tomatoes - all on special so not too hurty. But then there were the grapes, the radishes, the peppers, the red onion...
But it was yum. And there are leftovers...
