Oh how lovely OHH..

I started to turn to go to the oppy but decided to stick to my Bann.. Until Ive done the warrant on the car. It was hard tho.

OMG Im an Influencer lol..

Was standing in our New World who has just got one of those disc stands where there are 3 charities and they will get money if they get the most discs. There were 2 schools and the life savers. I was standing yakking to a friend and everyone that came along hesitated when deciding where to put their discs.

I said Go for the Surf Life savers. Schools get funding. And the Life savers dont discriminate with age, sex etc.. And all that stopped followed my hint lol.... Hahaha... our life savers need a new building, they were on 7 sharp not too long ago lol.

 Lol...

Ive had to contact the area manager of the home again today.

I asked the head nurse yesterday to make sure they actually used a wipe to wash MrPs finger before his blood sugar test and they didnt last night or this morning.

And Ive asked her to find out what happened to the sausage rolls too

I think our lives would be a good bit harder & far less colourful without our dogs & cats. My dog is a former rescue dog, & came to me as the people who took her on already had a dog & thought my dog was always on high alert so would probably be better as an 'only' dog. She is, I think.

Hope the papering goes well Hunni. And good luck with the home Popeye.

I've done a bit in the garden, so almost finished pruning the raspberries now, then did a bit more on the three small paintings for the boy's. May change them as not that happy with them so far.
in order to be old & wise, you must first be young & stupid. (I'm still working on that.)

Well it is up, and as usual I measured wrong, lol. But I can fix that...

Gotta love a bit of pink!

Chilly start this morning and the day is getting progressively bleaker - did my last school breakfast before the holidays start - so many of the kids are sure not going to enjoy the holidays -the headmasters wife took charge of the group of motel mothers who asked for help - was too much for me continual banging your head on bureaucracy doors getting nowhere - she now has 20 families under her wing and has the cooperation of the motel owner so that’s good
Kiwimade have just received Ribbon Rose latest email -lovely free style embroidery design called the tree of life - might be an inspiration
Just as well I wasn’t physically at the rugby yesterday I would have gone onto the field and grabbed the referees whistle - the opposing school had a magnificent haka but one boy got really carried away - his coach should have settled him down - he thought he was an All Black and anyone who tackled him he slapped in the face really hard - the referee did nothing and the game really deteriorated- my grandsons coach went to the referee at half time but by then both teams had their danders up - 17 year olds full of beans - the last straw was a kick in the head after a try was scored so the coach took our kids off the field
so disappointing- my grandson has a real good shiner from the slap he received
Our little staffi was brilliant -he used to cause a lot of amusement - we lived adjacent to the dog park in Bathurst - my husband would tell him to go put his ball to bed -he would trot off home from the park and put his ball on his bed
Have a lovely pea and ham soup bubbling away - smells so good might be an early tea

I was sure I had a pot of pea'n ham in the freezer. But do you think I could find it?

I will just have to defrost the ham hock I know is in there and make another batch tomorrow. Do you put mint and ginger in yours Jan?

No I hadn’t thought of adding ginger - must try that - soup is delicious-  found a couple of sour dough rolls buried in the freezer - could have been there a while but put them in the air fryer and they were perfect for dollops of butter - just what the doctor ordered NOT

Ohhhh yum.

I had porridge. But it was lavishly embellished with fruit and home made yoghurt. And so easy...

morning ladies Smile Ohhh yummmmm pea and ham soup. I have never thought to put ginger and mint in it so must give that a go. We have plenty of mint at the moment now too. And porridge, sooo good. Stick-to-your-ribs stuff.

An indoors day for us today so housework it is. Not that there is much to do but it doesn't hurt to stay on top of things. My op shop pile is dwindling as I talked to our daughter and she says she will take quite a few pieces. Nice to know the kauri fruit bowl is going with her along with a mirror that was given to me but I've never been fond of.

I stitched for a while yesterday and it felt good to have a needle back in my hands. There should be time to do more today.

Last night we started watching the Agatha Christie mystery 'Why Didn't They Ask Evans?' on Neon. We love a good mystery and Agatha Christie seems to be back in fashion. MrK loves the old cars in it too.

Happy crafting Smile

Good morning.

So, so wet outside ... not the best for dog owners, nor the kids walking by to school! Definitely an inside day and homemade soup is on the menu.

Having a change from knitting the baby blanket to some wee pink beanie and bootees. Looking forward to knitting the bigger items in due course.

Still to decide on having the covid booster (researching and getting advice),  the general thinking is the flu is the bigger concern and we are covered for that. Will continue to wear my mask, despite not many others doing so out and about,  apart from the supermarket.

Had better get a few things done,  hope everyone can stay warm and dry.

The Ribbon Rose shop would be a gorgeous place to visit  Heart

Morning everyone

Very dark and wet here.

Im considering putting off my Visit this morning.. Cos my knee is so weak at the mo Im going to have to use a walker. And that means getting it in and out in the rain. Ill ring MrP and see if he can hang on a bit.

Pat came over yesterday and run down the lawn on his ride on mower for me.. It should be the last time then Ill have it done regularly from now on.

I used to love making soup for MrP. His fave's were simple hock and vege's, chicken and noodles or his Mothers Tomato soup. The latter being so thick you could nearly stand your spoon in it lol. I dont eat it however. And having a pot keeping warm on the coal range was a winter long habit lol.

If I ever had a house built I would have a coal range put in.. They are simply the best thing to cook on, heat your water, raise ya bread on the rack and dry your clothes all at the same time.

Glad to hear Bojo has finally resigned. He was starting to act like Trump.

Have a fab day everyone. Stay warm and dry

I'm in for the booster, soon as I am eligible after the six month point. With five hundred in hospital with covid already none of us need add to that burden, and the thought of flu and covid together is just too nasty a prospect.

I do wonder if we will ever get back to just having hospitals for things like surgeries and babies without the community wrecking viruses. The world has certainly changed...

I asked yesterday about the Booster.. They are doing people over 50 now.. Im going to get it, mainly cos the rest home always seems to have flare ups and deaths from it... And risking having the rash I got last time. Am booked for August 3rd.

When I was young and beautiful we rented a property with an Aga stove. It had been installed by the property owner, with the flue hard up against one of the ceiling joists. One day I was alone in the house, prepping dinner when the inevitable finally happened and the ceiling caught fire, and the house pretty much burned down around my ears.

I learned a lot of lessons all at once on that occasion, still hate the smell of old smoke to this day. I am happy to stick to electric!

That was one helluva lesson OHH! How awful for you losing everything.  Something you would definitely not forget and not surprising to have smoke as a trigger for reminding you.
Reply
Yeah its a hard lesson

When we changed one of our bathrooms we discovered the timber beside the hot water pip in the bathroom was all charred.. And that was well away from the stove.

MrP has lost everything twice so I fully understand what you went through OHH..

Back in the day when we had those movable kerosene heaters - we left one going in the kids bedroom and went somewhere or other - had a Hungarian Visla at the time when we left he was asleep on one of the beds didn’t want to come - we guess he jumped off the bed and partially shut the door onto the heater - we got home just as the door burst into flames - all that end of the house was smoke damaged and the bedroom wall and obviously the door was burned but we were so lucky - another few minutes we would have lost the lot .Fire is so frightening
