You can never have enough...
Nice man who calls me darling doing fixit things to my door right now... I suppose I should be offended by the term but seeing he is making my flat secure I'll let him get away with it...

That made me chuckle Hunni - One of the elderly men who helps out at the school breakfast club calls me Popett - can sense everybody else trying not to laugh - me included - being rather large and mouthy poppet seems ludicrous - some times I wonder if he is taking the proverbial but he is a lovely old bloke - he makes a very popular ham and chicken and cheese sandwich with his own pickle which the kids love

MrP calls all women "Sweetheart"

But thats simply so he never has to remember names. lol

When I was younger I hated being called Love... and told quite a few I wasn't their Love lol

I was down graded to 'dear' when he left. But the door now closes so I forgive him. And I forgive him for telling me not to break it again.

He said he'd pop in next time he is in the village. To check on the door. So I'd be voting for 'brave', lol...

Yeah...definitely brave. Big Grin Big Grin Rolleyes

The lovely birthday boy brought his big brother & Mum to visit & I think he was well pleased with the loot. Those boys are shooting up at a great rate; granddaughter is tall, as is her partner & they're already sure  that their kids will sooner or later, be taller than they are.

What a pity I'll probably miss that, & won't be able to say 'SEE! See how it feels when your kids are taller than you.' but wherever I am by then, I suspect I'll be laughing. Big Grin Big Grin

Morning everyone

A nice not so cold winters day.. Watching breakfast, when we were kids mum always saved comics and puzzles etc from handed to her magazines etc. Board games etc.

Lilith my Sisters eldest son has been looking Down on me since he was 11... He is just shy of 6'6"... Im the Little Aunt. Id love to see him now tho but he's busy travelling the world Executive Cheffing.

Meant to take the car up for the warrant this morning. I've called and asked if they could come and pick it up. I've already done as much walking as I want to today.

Im going to release the Monarch today.. I will remember this journey with him. They have a relatively short life span but Ive enjoyed learning too.

Have a fab day everyone..... I reckon even the Dogs wont want to go out in this weather lol

morinng ladies Smile Whoahhhh what a stormy night we had and it doesn't seem much better this morning. The whanau have promised to text before they leave and along the way to us. Better make sure we have enough water in the fridge so we can at least make a cuppa using the camp cooker if the power goes off. No power = no water. We had a power cut last Friday thanks to a tree coming down onto the lines.

Good to hear your door is fixed and secure, OHH. What a hoot with the different names we're called. I suppose men of a certain age will never change their habits.

Amazing how quick our grandies grow, isn't it, Lilith. I couldn't believe our granddaughter is up to my shoulder already. And I remember our son being at eye level with me one day and taller than me, the next. I think MrK will be surprised at the grandies height as he hasn't seen them for a while.

Happy crafting Smile

Rain is fizzing against the glass, I am so glad that door is fixed. It doesn't usually come under the eaves, but this storm is bringing it on.

I had a small brainwave last night and exhumed the washi tape from the art supplies and used some to help hold up a drop of the wallpaper. I told myself too, it doesn't need to look like a professionally hung drop to achieve the look I want - it just needs to be a block of colour to serve as a background for the next layer. I want to make a collage on the wall, images and things, colour being the first starting point. So today I am going to put up more pieces and see if that pleases my artist self.

And I might also mop some floors. Just to keep things real.

Good morning.

Stormy and wet here also, thankfully not cold. No desire for pets or humans to step outside,  so an inside day it is.

Baking, sewing up baby knits,  knitting and perhaps an embroidery trial on the cards. 1 grandson has put in an order for a knitted parrot ... in case I need something to do  Big Grin

Glad the door has been dealt to OHH. Enjoy family time KM and Popeye I hope your pain meds have kicked in. Mica your family lucky to have you,  with your sewing output  Smile

Stay warm and dry all.

Hope the wallpaper hanging is successful this time, Hunni & good luck with the Monarch release, Popeye. Kiwimade, I suspect that their parents stand those kids in buckets of fertiliser to get them to grow!

Both grandsons & youngest granddaughter are six footers, & all of the grandkids are taller than me now. I noticed yesterday that eldest great grandson is nearly up to my shoulder & he's only almost 5!

Tipping down here, with some gusts of wind so unless it eases off or clears up, I doubt I'll be doing the groceries today; even I'm not daft enough to risk that lot. Did think of online shopping but rather do it myself so it can wait.

Used the time to do a bit more on paintings, (have one almost finished now which is lucky since that birthday is this week) & made another strudel for freezer & dug out some pumpkin soup for lunch since its so cold- very glad I thought to get bread yesterday just in case the weather forecast was right.
I will have to venture out later to take the dog for a very short walk - not looking forward to that!

We have sun lol...

Car passed the warrant. They came and picked it up and then dropped it off. Phew I hate warrant time but thank god its only once a year.

The Monarch is sitting in the sun on my shoe.. Who knew that orange and black goes nicely with Mauve lol.

I have enjoyed the experience and learning

The storm is easing off and the rain has stopped, it's really soggy underfoot. We're expecting the whanau around mid afternoon. MrK has dinner all sorted, an easy mince on toast so anyone can help themselves when they are ready to eat. And of course the jelly is set in the fridge ready for jelly and ice cream. It's the only time the grandies have jelly so it's become a 'nana and poppa' thing.

I didn't know how to determine the sex of Monarchs either so thank you OHH for the info. Always good to learn something new Big Grin

I've had a good run on stitching the butterfly wing this morning. All the padding is done on one of the big circles ready for the satin stitch and all the inner circle is finished. I might just go and finish my Jack Reacher book, I have JD Robb lined up next.

The neighbours have now had their suspicions confirmed - there is indeed a mad woman living down the street, & her dog's equally nuts!

The walk in the rain was an especially quick one today, quite a fast trot & for once the human wasn't telling the dog to go slowly. naturally, it waited until we set foot outside to come down in buckets. Sometimes, I could swear there's someone up there just waiting...Smile

I have a friend, Lusi, who among other things is a forest witch, runs a very successful tattoo studio, and has two wildly beautiful children, and she taught me how to sex the monarchs. Her children bring her the ones with damaged wings and she repairs them with feathers or saved wings, and lets the creatures fly free again. Magic fingers...

Good morning.

The sun is coming out ... happy days.

What an enchanting person OHH, especially her ability to repair butterflies  Heart I was informed as to how to sex them last year, fascinating.

Lol Lilith, isn't that just typical, I saw quite a few scurrying past yesterday as they got caught in the sudden downpour, some with dogs in tow! All with the same idea no doubt, get outside while it was dry!

No plans today,  DH's birthday so will make a cake at least.

Enjoy the day all.
