I'm not sure there are any delicate flowers these days. I've never come across any so perhaps they died out back in the 19th century when women weren't allowed to do much of anything - at least officially.
Not entirely sure who'd have done the garden & chopped wood etc. etc. if I'd opted for being a delicate flower. At one point deep in a Dunedin winter without power & only an old coal range it was a matter of chop wood, light fire to heat water, then wash by hand & with two still in nappies back then. Oh joy.

in order to be old & wise, you must first be young & stupid. (I'm still working on that.)
