That photo of the apples was across the road from my friends who decided life wasn’t worth living anymore - it was taken in the weeks after the cyclone and unfortunately they attracted hundreds of rats - the Furry one would have thought he was in heaven
We had a bittersweet moment yesterday - sometimes we just so wish the old boy was here - when we were living in Bathurst we went across to Orange I wanted some bunny wool - the shop wasn’t open so we wandered along the street - the Archibald prize winners a top Ozzie art competition were on show - the winner really took the old boys fancy because it had so much detail and a little dog - he wasn’t into art would be more likely to be buying running shoes - anyway as we left there was a little stall selling prints - so over he wanders and comes back with one tucked under his arm - $37 - when we got home I unrolled it and saw it was a numbered print and congratulated him on his buy - a bit later one I heard him having a bit of a giggle with my granddaughter and I could tell she had a secret - it was still in the times of zip zapping your credit card and when he looked it was $337 .I carried on quite a bit .When we shifted back home one carton went missing and the print was in that carton - I don’t think we even claimed on the insurance for it .In the meantime the artist has become very well known - saw something online about an up coming auction so thought maybe I could replace it - the price is on the photo! The kids and I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry he would have completely disregarded the fact we lost it but congratulated himself on his good taste
