Hunni my son is part owner of one of the last non corporate sawmills - he has worked in the corporate world but decided it wasn’t for him - so they live in the middle of nowhere employing the locals and when an opportunity arises like the mountains of slash he doesn’t have to consult the board or worry about govt subsidies - if it doesn’t risk the company’s viability they go for it - his world also includes having sick lambs in his house while his wife is away - compared to life in the supermarket he chose better than his brother - mind you his brothers first job in the supermarket was a part time uni job so he certainly has worked his butt off as well
Windy here again today - the gusts are huge then alls quiet for about 15mins then bang it’s back again
In conjunction with the local food rescue - the supermarkets have opened up a free supermarket- people can chose what they want and there are volunteers on hand to give help to use healthier options - one lady put together a fritter mix -not sure what’s in it - buttermilk powder and everything else normal you just add cold water and frozen mixed veggies - she can’t keep up the families are returning for more and more - the kids love the fritters and they are so much cheaper than oven fries and nuggets - there are no doubt more healthy options but at least they are giving it a try

We have a cat once again. She & Madame Le Dog have yet to meet but are aware of each other. She came with her own crate which is quite large & sighty taller than the one for the dog, & which takes up most of my room. Once she settles in I may do away with crate but we'll see how it goes - at present she's in her crate, hidiing under her bed with no apparent intention of coming out.
I did a bit in garden but ground too wet to do much so will have to wait.

I got off the scoot this afternoon and was taking groceries out of the backpack when I was soft battered by some feathery wings. It was a pale ring neck dove. She strolled around me listening intently as I scolded her for giving me a fright then the little madam took flight and landed on my top knot, by the big butterfly clip.
I pushed her off, but talk about cheeky, she was determined to interact. Maybe she fancied some Vogels. When I turned to come back in, there in the doorway was madam, watching the silliness and obviously trying to decide if she should come out and have a feathered brekky...
But no, too lazy. Too well fed.

Wow Hunni that would have been cool. Glad your Madam didnt come out to investigate.
Thanks for the info about the pellets, I will get some this week hopefully. And do the transition. yeah I clean madams tray often. Oddly she seems to go when I do which is funny lol..
Baking done and cut and packed, Just took the pudding out. And I have some stuff packed for tomorrow. Have misplaced the dessert bowls so will buy some more tomorrow. The Menu is toasted Sammie's with cheese, onion, ham and tomato. Then Steamed pudding and custard. And Marshmallow shortcake and ginger crunch for their afternoon tea, or to take to their rooms anyway.
The Ginger crunch has a punch, but its not hard. MrP doesn't like too much ginger so he wont be having any. Will cut and butter some pudding for him in the morning when its cold.
He didn't want to talk tonight, wasn't feeling too flash so I let him go.
They told me I couldn't, so I did.!!

Morning everyone
Damp again, And looks like the wind has finally dropped a little.
Hope its fine for when I get to the second rest home. I will need the walker to carry everything out today. Im looking forward to it, but I suspect we might be asked to stop the toast sandwiches at least, cos they will say we take over the kitchenette. Something we have always tried to stay compact in. Letting them get to the hot water for the drinks. Time will tell tho.
Looks like it might be a hard week to get the lawns done.. Hopefully the weekend might be fine
Better get things done I still have a few things to do before I can leave.
Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies It's a tad overcast here this morning.
Gosh it's quiet without the grandkids!
Oh wow, OHH, how cool was that with the dove lol. I wonder if it was part of someone's flock and used to being handled.
My little chainsaw had to go back to the shop as the lights indicating the battery charge wasn't working. They are finding out if it can be repaired before they give me a new one. Fair enough, I'm all for repairing rather than filling the landfill with new stuff. Frustrating though as there is quite a bit that needs doing with it at the moment. And you all know what it's like when you have something new and want to use it lol.
The new vacum cleaner is safe from the Furry One lol as he doesn't like the noise it makes. Phew.. no more lugging around an 8 kilo dog on the end of the vacum.
happy crafting

Good morning.
A much better day with the cold wind finally gone.
Busy weekend with the family around and today I have 3 gc to keep entertained.
Popeye I get wood pellets from Bunnings in a big bag ... cost effective and last ages but you need the trolley to get them to the car!
I hope your new puss is settling down Lilith and your dog doesn't have her nose out of joint!
Time to move to drawing/colouring books for an activity change.
Enjoy the day all.

We had about 40 doves living in the reserve behind me before the cyclone - have only seen one since - between selling my old house and moving in here I spent quite a few months between settlement living on a very busy road but it was all I could get with a dog at the time - the first morning I woke up here to the sound of ten or so doves on the fence my initial thought was I had died and gone to heaven ! I am presuming the cyclone winds killed all the birds - in the evening hundreds of birds used to come into the trees now the reserve is silent - the consequences of climate change are wide and varied

Do Warehouse deliver - their delivery fee is only $5 anywhere in NZ

MrK has been back to the optometrist and as we suspected, his cataract surgery was a blo*** mess and he has to go back to Waikato for them to release a buildup of fluid.
On the plus side, while waiting for him, a Whitcoulls was conveniently nearby and I bought two books as part of the grandkids Christmas presents. Thanks for the reminder of buy one, get the second half price, Lilith
Time for a cuppa and then I'll think of what I want to do. The sore throat is gone, sort of, but still feeling a tad off colour. Might just have a cruisey remainder of the day and then get stuck into the garden tomorrow.

Warehouse do! And that halves the price I usually pay too. So, thanks for that!

That's absolutely gorgeous Mica, the zebra's look perfect.
Just back from mall -the chemist which had been there for years has finaly closed; it was just a matter of time once the Chemist warehouse opened there. Hell of a wind blowing a gale out there, had to get off & walk at one point as couldn't make any headway on the bike.
The new cat is slowly getting used to me, its going to take a while though.

It does take a while. Cats do like people humming though, it is vibratory, like a purr. That and food, and warm places are the ways to a cats heart.
When they choose!

Ohh Wow Mica that is Beautiful. I love it.
Our Bunnings is a trade shop and depending on who you are talking to they say you can or cant go in there. I will pop in on Thursday.
I just sold a pair of woolen blankets, so am a bit more flush this week. So will tempt madam and see if she likes it.
MrP was happy enough, not overly chatty this morning. Said he was sick through the night. But managed to eat 2 pieces of Marsh mallow shortcake. And we went to the lounge to see a yummy looking lamb. I say that laughing cos thats what everyone said.. lol It should be a nice size for Christmas Dinner lol.
Went to CHT and Honestly it was NUTS.. blimmin NUTS.
On Friday when they stopped Dianne from doing the art, there was no thanks kiss my A*** or nothing. And they have been making changes in everything.
Then we arrived in the lounge / dining room for lunch, we wer actually wondering if they were going to stop that. But they let it happen... But the podiatrist was there clipping toenails right at the table we all gather around.
We weren't annoyed at the clients or the lady doing it, but at the wiseness of doing nails where people eat. The Boss actually came down and apologized to the ladies. Not David or I as we were prepping to cook.
Apparently they told Dianne on Friday that we weren't to feed Young Peter. No reason given... So when Young Peter arrived we still made him a toasted sandwich and I cut it in quarters so he could pick it up and eat. And I cut up his steamed pudding and custard and he managed. But I would have fed him regardless
On our way out they relented and have let Dianne continue to do art on Wednesday morning.. I think its cos they knew we wouldn't let it rest about the toenails.. Dianne told them it was a health issue and the health department should be told... So I think they reinstated the art classes as a peace offering.
They are changing then order of things and if there's something older people like its routine. Don't go messing with when things are done, when they have their routines.
Didn't really get to speak to Bobbie as the music man was there. but she was happy so that's all that matters.
Ohh Kiwimade that sucks re MrKs eye.. Hopefully he wont have to wait too long. When my Mother lived in Turua she had to go to Tauranga for her cataract.. its a wonder they dont send you there.
Hope the new girl settles in quickly Lilith.
They told me I couldn't, so I did.!!

She's really quite surprisingly heavy, too.
Madam Le Dog isn't sure she's at all keen on the interloper yet but we'll see.

Oh yes. Herself likes to sleep on my feet. My bed is a big one, but no, she has to sleep on my feet. And sometimes that causes real problems with pain, but truthfully, the worst thing was when she discovered where the hot water bottle was.
And monopolised it, stealthily.. Ratbag.

morning ladies Looks like we are going to have a fine day
Oh wow, mica, just wow! That quilt is gorgeous
We miss having a cat, we miss the purring. But the Furry One is a hunter and it's not worth the risk. I hope puss is settling in, Lilith, and Le Dog stops sulking
Today I'm going to weed for a bit. It must be spring, I only mowed a few days ago and already the lawn needs doing again.
Next week the local book fair is happening I have $$ put aside for it and am compiling a list of books I want to keep an eye out for. Last year I came home with something like 10 books for under $20. Roma, if you are interested it's from the 11th - 14th at the Memorial Hall. Another of my happy places lol.
Happy crafting
