Around the World in 80 Days, starring David Tennant - expensive looking and perfectly adequate television.

Made a start on Landscapers and The White Lotus but yet to negotiate episode 2 of either.

Its the final of Years & years tonight - & I've just worked out why the bastards didn't play the first episode. It was so as to have the final of it tonight, to make way for the Winter Olympics starting next week at that time.
Bastards.

I found Puzzle this afternoon. A Netflix 'hidden gem' - their classification.

It is a surprising film. Recommended for those who don't think jigsaws are weird old people stuff. And who like films that focus on characters rather than action.

Bugger  - that looks really good. Might have to think about it at some point. Smile

Helps if you like jigsaws. And I do, for exactly the same reasons as these puzzlers...

Given up on Band of Brothers, decided to leave it to the memories of me 1st watch on general TV.
One of the better show both of us enjoy is Ben Fogle: Return to the Wild.

I quite like Ben Fogle - he was in one of the first ever 'reality shows', Castaway - a group of people living on a remote island which was really interesting. He's done some of the more interesting & unusual TV stuff since then.

Ben's book 'Up' is a great read, especially having had an insight into his personality through his 'Where the Wild Men Are' TV shows.
It is about Ben's successful attempt on Everest including the psychological battle that it included and Ben's views on the commercialisation of the whole Everest thing.

That sounds worth a read, just checked & the library has it so just put it on hold. Smile

We watched Equalizer 2  starring Denzel Washington  last evening which took us up to Ben Fogle's Return.. Ben's accommodation for the week was a caravan perched 20 feet up a tree.

Bridges of Madison County with Meryl Streep & Clint Eastwood proved a good watch last night.
Streep so talented with her ability of different accents

I watched Resistance last night, about Marcel Marceau during WW2. He was involved in rescuing thousands of Jewish children from the Nazis in France & getting them to safety on Switzerland.
Jesse Eisenberg played Marceau, it wasn't bad but not great either.

Watched a couple of episodes from When The Boat Comes In, last evening.

On our trip to England in '07, up in Newcastle purchased the complete series of the show.

I've got the whole thing too, really enjoyed the series but I do think that like a lot of other series, they just let it continue for a bit too long, & the earlier series were far better than the later ones.

Always thought on the return to "Blighty" series had lost some of the spark ie: what's Jack up to this episode. Could well have ended with his departure to the States, like many a series let the viewer make up their own ending. None the less will always in my opinion one of the great British series.

Yes absolutely one of the best, & also The boys from the blackstuff I think belongs in that category too.

Never seen The Boys From The Blackstuff, will need to have a look.

Speaking series that one appreciates was one named Misleading Cases starring the delightful Alastair Sim, main character was played by Roy Dotrice set back round early '70's.

Boys from the blackstuff is a bit harrowing in places but also very funny in others - set in the UK in Thatcher's Britain of the 80's, Alan Bleasdale I think it was. Bernard Hill as Yosser Hughes. The series picked up the best Drama series & Bernard Hill got best actor.

I've heard about Misleading cases but have never seen it.
