Yeah, I don't care what a person's drug of choice is but don't pass judgement on me for having a J while sipping back on your ingrained socially acceptable drug called
alcohol.

Benjamin Franklin

"Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do."
Steve Jobs

"To criticize one’s country is to do it a service and pay it a compliment. It is a service because it may spur the country to do better than it is doing; it is a compliment because it evidences a belief that a country can do better than it is doing. In a democracy, dissent is an act of faith. Like medicine, the test of its value is not in its taste but its effect, not how it makes people feel in the moment but how it makes them feel in the long run. Criticism, in short, is more than a right; it is an act of patriotism, a higher form of patriotism, I believe, than the familiar rituals of national adulation.”

"The erosion of democracy is gradual. It’s a bit like when you're out walking in the late afternoon & your mind wanders, then you realise the sun's gone down & you're walking in the dark.
Right now, we have this sunny, friendly blur of John Key; cracking jokes, posing with the all blacks, reassuring us he is relaxed.
Behind that, the shadows are lengthening. In them, we can dimly see businesses buying access to Ministers, corporations buying laws & silencing critics. Intelligence agencies, smearing political opponents."

THE VALUE OF A SMILE

"A smile costs nothing, but it gives much. It reaches those who receive without making poorer those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory lasts a lifetime. No one is so rich or mighty that one can get along without it, and no one is so poor that one can be made richer by it. A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters goodwill in business, and is the countersign of friendship. It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged. A smile is sunshine to the sad, and is nature's best antidote for trouble.

Yet, it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed or stolen, for it is no value to anyone until it is given away. Some people are too tired to give you a smile. Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as the one who has none to give."

Well. If you usually drink and are a regular drinker then one day you decide not to have a drink, then I can see why some people would think something is up and need an explanation.
If you drink very occasionally and then decide not to have a drink one day then it is not so noticeable because you don't drink much and so would be like the chips and sauce scenario
