Almost 1.75 million advance votes so far. Huge! Good that they get to start counting them from tomorrow morning - don't want to stay up all night waiting for election results.
See that Maori enrolments have increased dramatically this election. Starting to wander if the Maori Party might snaffle back a seat from Labour and add a little spice to the coalition talks.
Last night's "debate" was a snoozefest. Both leaders seemed tired (sitting them down didn't help), the audience was pointless, and the questions were dull. Media tried to make something out of Ardern saying she would stand down if she lost. If the public didn't want her, then why should she remain? Better that than staying on and sucking off the public teat for the next 20 years.
Greens look a bit safer after last night's polling, and they'll benefit from the on-the-day voters not giving their votes to an apparently safe Labour. Winston was up a % too, he's making a late charge but might have left it a bit late.

Judith is having a weird final week before an election.
Going after the obese is not typically a vote-winner. Essentially calling your deputy "weak" and for that matter, most of Samoa, is a brave if somewhat disrespectful move.
Seems to be very focused on this wealth tax thing, which will mainly affect your typical National voter so I'm not sure who she is trying to win over. Ardern will be getting sick of answering the wealth tax question over and over again.
The media have been taking great enjoyment from showing Collins in a downward spiral as it makes for good viewing, but I can't see it playing out as badly as they're making out. Sure, she looks grumpy and the internal polls that she's not releasing are probably not good, but the blue voters are there.
Not sure what the impact of the advance voters is going to have. They're at 1.4 million already which is very solid going. Do early voters lean in a certain direction? They always used to say that overseas voters were more left than right.

How many people know someone who has had Covid-19? |

My son has had it, in London way back in March. He had been sent home from work as his office was being deep cleaned after his manager had tested positive for it. A few days later he wasn't feeling well and was supposed to be flying out to NZ that week, so he rebooked his flight with Emirates for November (now that is cancelled as well). he did manage to get a refund for his ticket and is still working from home. He wasn't even sure in the beginning that he had the virus as he didn't have the symptoms that were being talked about then - fever, cough, trouble breathing, But he thought it very strange he'd completely lost taste and smell, and only a slight fever at night. It took him a while to get those back and he didn't feel like eating. Since then he's just been carrying on as usual and has even had a couple of holidays, in Dorset and Lake District. I'd like him to come back and he had been talking about it before all this happened, but not sure about the job situation for him now.

What is the obsession with knowing how Ardern is voting in the cannabis referendum? The whole point of the referendum is knowing what the normal Joe Bloggs thinks, so having it swayed by the PM kinda defeats the purpose. Makes far more sense than Collins saying how she is going to vote, and that the rest of the party will be voting the same as her (although you'd suspect some of them might quietly tick the other box when they get to the booth).
Anyways, off to vote today. Have read some fairly vile comments from the "Vote No on Cannabis" brigade this morning, so that's solidified voting Yes. Happy to cancel out one of them, even though it looks like they'll probably come out ahead on election night. Can't always back the winner, lol.
