Welcome GJW (yep checked that twice lol ) and Zoe.

So pleased I didnt have kids, not only for their father side but teenagers can be hard work.. I dont think I caused my mother too many grey hairs. I was never a wild child. and being the fouth and fifth equal out of 5 Im thinking that the others had trained her well enough to handle double trouble.

Prey tell what breeds said dogs are.

Oh KM its a bit of a shock when a normally calm pet turns nasty. Sure fire sign of pain. Hopefully he responds to the meds etc.

Couriers etc are funny creatures. The last parcel for Dianne was a winch for their sons trailer and a heavy little beast it was. And instead of putting it on the table, he put it on the ground. Maybe he thought the table wouldn't handle it.

Bumped into the Manager of the last rest home MrP was in, at the med lab. Didn't recognize her in normal clothes lol.. Finally got to tell her Thank you for telling me to harden my heart. Also said when she told me I hated it, but she was right.

Popped in the Oppie to see if the cushion I saw last week was still there, it wasn't so got a nice blue one. Told a couple of the ladies about the trip tomorrow, One was shocked there were 12 oppies there and went and told the boss.. awesome shopping at the mo cos they have a half price sale so got 2 cookbooks, a lighter scarf, a cushion and a Tupperware container which looks brand new, that I know fits my Tupperware scales perfectly and handy when I bake .For the grand sum of $6-50 lol

Gas tank is full, car in cleaned out, not that it was grotty or anything, just needed a bit of organization .

Games now then painting.

Quite warm here so once the walk was done, ventured out & did a bit more weeding. Until Madame le Cat arrived & apparently decided that the human was simply unable to do it without her valuable assistance.
At which point I gave up. Never mind, almost half the big garden done now so a good start. And I've managed to clear most of the back fence of ivy.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 28-08-2025

My daughter sent me a pic of the sticky toffee pudding she had just taken out of her Ninja multicooker thingamiejig. I know what those cost, I refuse to ask her if she has a kitchenaid mixer. Those have been lust objects for me for decades. So, to restore my equilibrium I went into my under resourced kitchen and made myself a peach cobbler for my tea. With homegrown peaches. And blueberries from the freezer.

That'll learn her.

RE: You can never have enough... - kazza - 28-08-2025

Hello ladies, long time lurker here too. Really enjoy this thread so time I introduced myself. I'm Karen, 55 years old and live in Putaruru with hubby and 2 cats. Mum of 3 and granny to 21 month old Lucas. Avid knitter and keen gardener although that is on the backburner while i await my FSA for a knee replacement, 435 days I have been waiting and when i was talking to the hospital last month they were booking appointments to those who had been on the list 525 days so maybe by the end of the year I might be seen. Then goodness knows how long I will be on the surgical waiting list. However we battle on.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 28-08-2025

welcome kazza Smile MrK's hip replacement could be 3 - 12 months away. And he's an urgent case. We waited 12 months to just have the orthopedic appointment. I hope you are having some sort of support in the meantime.

lol OHH, of course that will learn her! Tongue Tongue

We're having mince chow mien for dinner tonight. A quick, one pot, dinner loaded with plenty of veg.

Have had my shower, the Furry One has found his second wind in spite of his sore ears and now wants to play.

Clever daughter. Smile
I'm sort of the opposite; really fed up with cooking & baking these days unless the mood takes me which is fairly rare. I think its just having had to do it for so long.
Nowadays its usually anything easy.

Greetings Kazza, always good to have more newbies.
Isn't being a Gran just the best thing - DIL knows now what I meant when I told her that, they've got two grandkids now & are utterly besotted with them. Wink

I'd like to believe that whoever's next in govt might actually fix our messed up health system, rather than attempting to move towards a privatised health system.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 28-08-2025

Hi Kazza..

Now Putaruru is a place I know. Lived there for a while in the early 2000s. Hubby grew up there a million years ago lol.

I had my totally knee replacement last year. I know the wait but mine wasn't as long as yours.. Two tips. get a skateboard, sit on a dining chair and put your foot on the skateboard and push it as far ahead and backwards as you can... And make sure you lengthen your calf muscles. Sit with your toes pointing up, mine went straight forward meaning I had short calf muscles. they hurt more than the knee replacement. Took me weeks to get my foot flat on the floor.

That will Learn her Hunnie lol... Shhhh but Kenwood over the Kitchen aid. Although I will say the KitchenAid look soo pretty in their snazzy colours.

Ill be making a ginger loaf on the weekend I think, cooked in a loaf tin in a crockpot....

Can you buy frozen raspberries? I haven't looked,, also found a chocolate pudding with raspberries..

Catch Yall when I get home tomorrow.. No behaving and we wont either.. lol

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 28-08-2025

Hi Kazza, Putaruru is on the way to home ground for me too, and I too was long wait listed for my last hip. But oh the drugs are so much better than my first one, that I had 20 years ago now. It is starting to bite me now, but don't tell my surgeon. He can't wait to chisel it out and find out why an implant that was withdrawn two weeks after mine went in, has lasted so long. I, on the other hand, would rather just die with it in place thank you.

My cobbler is wonderful. Recipe Lilith - cube 85gms butter into baking dish in oven as it heats to 180, once melted pour in batter made of one cup sugar, one cup flour, 2tspns bp, stirred together with half to three quarter cup of milk, and layer fruit on top of that, sprinkle cinnamon to taste and bake 40 minutes odd. Easiest pud I have ever made and vey toffeeish at the edges. Yoghurt or ice cream...

That's dinner. Oh being old is so lovely, dessert for dinner!

Yumm that sounds yummy Hunnie.

Im having a repeat of lunch..   for dinner.

I decided I think back when MrP was in the rest homes, that I could eat what ever I wanted and when ever I wanted. And I do.

Not having creamed rice and peaches is just horrible. Even tho what I had this morning is nice, it wasn't rice and peaches .

RE: You can never have enough... - Zoe jacks - 28-08-2025

Thank you everyone. Your all so nice and almost feel like family. I was lost when this page went down for those days. Busy day for me.
Thursday is grocery and takeaway day for us
After work is dog walking time, so not cooking on Thursdays is my treat. Pity the washing doesn't do itself!!!
My daughter is awesome at the moment (touching wood as I write this) definitely not like some of the other kids around.
She's an awesome baker and loves playing netball and thankfully still likes the company of her parents so doesn't hibernate in her room all the time . We are currently waiting on acceptance for high schools next year. Unfortunately the school we are zoned for isn't the best, so have applied for three others. Fingers crossed one of those has space ???
I'm looking forward to the weekend, pottering in the garden and hopefully a dump run
Lots of good deals at pak n save tonight. So did a stock up on some pantry staples as they were cheap cos like everyone on here, seems we all love a bargain
About to crawl into bed before it all starts again tomorrow

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 29-08-2025

Morning everyone.. yep Im happy excited and looking forward to the day..

I dont care if it rains lol.. the sky doesnt look too bad at the mo.

Glad you have an easy going daughter Zoe. Love that she bakes.

It was horrid when we lost the boards for those few days, most of us managed to find each other on FB, we all new one of us and word got around, about 20 minutes and we were all connected.

What was funny sort of weird was calling each other by our real names. It was kind of weird and we are back to our TM names again lol. Never knew there were two Sue's lol.

Madam is not liking that Ive shut her out of the bedroom. her sunny spot, but if I didnt she would hide under the bed and Id be stressed , I like to be on time and she would simply ignore me until I cried.

Have a wonderful day everyone. I know we will.

Just a thought has anyone looked in any of the other groups on here to see if Roma is posting.?

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 29-08-2025

morning ladies Smile Looks like rain today, buggar, as I have quite a bit of washing to do.

Good luck with finding the right school, zoe. We ended up going private with our daughter.

I haven't heard from roma Sad I've lefther a message. But some probably won't come back thinking the boards are down for good or have found other stuff to fill in that time and decided they prefer that.

Housework for me today, MrK's PC lady is coming this morning a bit later as she has a new client. We are so grateful (especially me) for this assistance, it makes a huge difference.

MrK's colonoscopy stuff arrived yesterday. It's quite a rigmarole especially as he has to stop warfarin and change to clexaine. Not the first time he's had to do that, but it takes a while to get his INR back to where it should be afterwards. Today he has his scan for the mass under his arm. His arm is swelling now so it's becoming quite urgent this is sorted.

Washing machine has finished, this new machine is soooo quiet, I can hardly hear the beeps. Now to take a chance and hang it out.

Enjoy your day out, popeye Smile and safe travels.

Beat this then. Made a sale on 19th July which the buyer failed to respond to or pay for. After a week I cancelled the sale, got a refund and posted a negative FB.

3rd August the buyer finally emails me thinking she paid but hasn't received the item and is trying to work out what happened. I advised her to reorder through our website.

5th August another reply saying she can't find the link on our website to make an order and has also lost the Trade Me email to make payment that way. I sent her a link direct to our website page for the product.

28th August (yesterday, 5 1/2 weeks since the original order) we received an email via the TM reply function saying payment had been made and sure enough it showed up in our account and we dispatched the item. Some people just shouldn't be allowed near a computer unsupervised.

In other news I purchased a power tool from a Trade Me seller in Auckland on Monday with immediate payment made. After chasing up the seller for tracking/dispatch info I got a reply last night with an Aramex tracking number, that drew a blank. Seller then advised to check it again today as the courier would be picking it up then. 4 days after sale and payment FFS. Some sellers are just slack arses I guess.

RE: You can never have enough... - kazza - 29-08-2025

Thank you for the warm welcome ladies. Yes kiwimade i do have support while I wait. I have mobility parking permit which is a godsend at times plus crutches for when i have to walk any distance more than 100m lol. hubby comes supermarket shopping with me so I don't have to worry about carrying in groceries. Steps and steep inclines are the worst for my knee.
Thank you popeye for the tips. I go to the hydrotherapy pool twice a week to keep my muscle strength up. funny how I can exercise for an hour in the pool but can't walk more than a few hundred metres without crutches. Also managed to loose 30kgs in the past year in the process but still very much a work in progress there.
Looks like rain this morning but won't affect the housework I need to do this morning before MIL arrives this afternoon. Family dinner out tonight to celebrate hubby's 60th birthday yesterday.
Also a perfect day to continue my latest knitting project, afghan squares for a blanket for my grandson's second birthday in November.
Have a good day ladies.

RE: You can never have enough... - Zoe jacks - 29-08-2025

Morning everyone
Safe travels Popeye, can't wait to read about your adventures. Yea KM, we have a sort of private ish /Catholic school as our back up.
Awesome to see new names posting. That's awesome
I'm just finishing my morning tea break at work. It's my short day today, so finish at 2.30. home in time to get the washing in and do the usuals. Meant to be 20 with wind warnings here today so I've double pegged everything haha. I crocket baby blankets and hats. I sell them (sometimes) but keep going to get a stockpile and if they don't sell, will pass on to a local group that does packs up for new babies.
Hope everyone has a great day, all animals gets spoilt rotten as I know that have come to expect, and crafting, gardening and any other fun activities get a chance in the lime light today

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 29-08-2025

I had fun on TM this week. My gorgeous gifted ballpoint finally ran out of ink so I have been after a refill. They are a bit pricey, but I found a listing for a generic that looked right in the photo, so risked a punt on it. The seller had it in blue or black, in two piece packs but suggested he break a couple so he could give me a blue and a black, and save money. Got to love a sensible seller! They arrived this morning and not only fit my lovely pen, but once I had scribbled the wax tip off they work perfectly. The little notebook I keep in my handbag gets its companion pen back., my shopping lists are now in a lovely shade of blue...

It is the little pleasures that make life worth the smiles!

I did manage to muck up a trade a while back but realised in time & the seller was entirely reasonable about it thankfully.
