you know exactly who i mean

Well, I don't. And in view of the fact that, at one point, I had purple streaks in ny hair, I wonder if I'd be included in the group you find so concerning.

Why? I get purple streaks sometimes when my coloured conditioner grabs in my white hair, and yes, I probably have an agenda - or rather, a wish list. I'd quite like a universal basic income to share the wealth and eliminate poverty based on a much fairer tax system, and I'd also like to see guaranteed affordable housing - we could do that too with a bit more effort and better budgeting. And I'd really like to see more colour and fun in our communities, it might reduce the widespread stress and mental health problems we have out there.

And if it wasn't for activism we wouldn't have things like DoC, and public health, and forty hour weeks, and holidays, and freedom from child labour. Parental leave is down to activists, better sports facilities and libraries came from activism. Charities. Our nuke free status...

Activists are people prepared to put their energy where their mouths are. I think we need more of them, not fewer. Of course, that doesn't include folk like the Destiny thugs, or the mass shooters, or suicide bombers, or the incel nutters. Or drunk drivers, drug users, or sexual predators. Or billionaires. Those activist types we can do without, I agree. I guess we each have a few favourites when it comes to social improvements, lol...  Big Grin

Yes to all of that, AND for say, five years pay all the money usually allocated each year to sports, to the various arts instead, & see what difference it might make...

If comment that is in reference to Georgina it would imply you haven't got a grasp on what the term trans (gender) actually encompasses.

I just found this. I found it compelling and educative. Perhaps you might too, heisenberg. This young person has such courage.

Very interesting video. Thanks for posting. I assume from this, and from the comments on the post, that intersex in this case is synonymous with hermaphrodite (in some cases it seems).

Typically this has been 'rectified' by choosing a gender and removing the conflicting equipment, which is usually a choice made by the parents and irreversible. The stigma related to such abnormalities and therefore secrecy involved definitely doesn't help the situation for all involved and as ~1.7% of the population are likely to be born intersex an issue that would be far better brought out of the shadows which sympathetic recognition in legal standing would help address.

He was a Kiwi who worked mainly in America & whose work wasn't without controversy.
