Bricked PC?
#21
Don't think it is a faulty card as I took it from another of my PCs where it was working perfectly.

I have found with PBTech a device that connects to the m/b VGA port that allows an HDMI cable to connect to the monitor and it gives full HDMI capabilities. Awaiting its arrival and will report back as to whether or not it is any good.

Got a link to that ??

Will be interesting because VGA doesnt supply ANY Audio Signal at all. Where as HDMI "Full Capabilities" would mean it does carry Audio.

Not this one is it ??  https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/CAB8WR0...-Cable---2

If it is you may have just wasted your money -- Scroll down to Features in Red -- Doesn't convert VGA to HDMI.

You would need something like https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/ADPDIG7...eo-Adapter  ( those do work I got 4 of them in the cupboard)

What I have ordered is https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/ADPDIG7...eo-Adapter, looks like it is the same as yours.

Do you think something might have shorted in the PCIe setup as Graphics cards do not work on the PC but they GPU does work on another PC. Also the HDMI socket on the mother board doesn't work but does appear to carry the signal from the VGA (Taskbar only) and the mouse pointer but can't select any taskbar programs.

Its completely possible that something has fried on the Motherboard that is effecting the PCI-E Slot as well as the HDMI Port. There are a lot of circuits in a motherboard, only thakes one to get damaged ( by various means) and something stops working.

The linked Adapter - same as what I have.  I also have other adapters that are USB3 to HDMI, These  https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/ADPDIG0...pter-Cable.

Thanks for that. I will keep the USB cable in my mind should I ever need one.

I did, I really did remove the battery to fix the CMOS! I have just done it again and to my chagrin everything is back to normal.

Such a to-do about nothing!

once is a glitch, more than once is potentially a problem
