It's all about not wanting to set precedents. If the parents are granted their wish it also could be seen as a vindication of their claims about 'vaccinated' blood being somehow different.

So if this decision goes the way of the parents then what next? Vegan only blood, heterosexual only blood, Maori only blood...

They are politicizing the whole thing.
It would have been better if they quietly just given them the blood and no one would have noticed.....

The whole antivax thing is about making their actions into political statements. Even if the health system had done this one the quiet you can bet the parents and their entourage would have shouted it from the rooftops.
