Except looking at some of the film and still images from those days, it is amazing we escaped with so few fatalities. Perhaps it is our first world status, maybe if we hadn't had that we might have seen a very different outcome.

I can't comment beyond the obvious on media motivations, but I think we were lucky this time round. And I think the authorities know it.
