I don't agree with the death penalty but everyone has known about Thailand's drug trafficking laws and penalties since for ever - I remember it being discussed in our family when I was a kid... But good the remaining five have been released, twenty odd years is more than long enough.

When I was commuting through Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore in the early 1980s I well remember the signs in the airports stating "the penalty for smuggling dadah (drugs) is death". Can't be any more clear than that.
