I suspect a few wrong assumptions have been made here. Though Hackman had heart disease this isn't necessarily the primary cause of death, just a contributing factor. With his advanced state of Alzheimer's it is likely that his wife was his primary carer and after she died the condition would have meant he probably would have been deprived of food and water as unable to source these by himself but as he was found in the kitchen it is possible he was trying to. He also wouldn't have been taking any prescribed medications after his wife died. Dehydration in particular wouldn't be a great condition for someone with heart issues and just that may have been the determining factor in his death.
