Can't read stuff that has a paywall, but I agree, we kill way too many children, and way too many women in this country. Thing is, those crimes have common threads, poverty, mental health issues, intergenerational trauma, history of violence, educational deprivation, inadequate housing - and until we have a government that focuses on those major issues we will continue to see the results piling up around us.
And even then, there is a pretty good chance we will continue to see lives lost through donestic violence, because believe me, child killing is domestic violence, it's just easier to target a child than a woman. You see, the number one root cause of domestic violence in the gender of the perpetrator. Even in that holiest of holies when it comes to great governance - Finland, a huge chunk of the population experience domestic violence. In fact, most countries around the world have appalling statistics when it comes to intimate bullying, physical abuse, murderous rages, and serious criminal assault.
And most of it is done by men.
