They wouldn't do that, it would mean that they wouldn't get the high prices that they get for the rentals they own.
Time to ban MP's from owning rental properties perhaps, or limit the number they (or family members) can own.

I has a look through the asset declaration list and can see that property ownership is pretty much across the board except for less ownership by Labour and Green MPs. Overall it looks fairly proportionate for the general population too. Which is what we should expect. Our MPs are, after, all a cross section of society and it shows. The problem we had during the last Labour government is that when legislation is being debated, the debate points should be listened to and used to thrash out a version that actually achieves what it intends. Instead the opposition is all done in the media instead of the debating chamber, and if you watch some of the televised debates it is heartbreaking to see how few of our elected members are actually present. Therein lies a lot of the problem. I know that they are hard working and doing a thankless task, but at the very least they should be prepared to attend and debate properly. Legislation is not about the final vote. It's about the tweaking and correction that is supposed to happen along the way.
